First i look at the plug after trying to start it

it should be wet from the gas if not i would check the hose and see if something is clogging it

if not check the tank make sure nothing in it to clog the fuel line

83 honda accord it acts like it is out of gas but there is plenty. It turns over good but just wont start

Do you know if there is gas in the carb ?
1982 and 1983 Honda Accord models use an electric pump.
If there is no fuel in the carb you'll need to find out if the pump is working.
Also make sure it is getting spark to the plugs.

1998 xr80 smoking after puting freash gas in

Did you put in 2-cycle mixed gas? If putting gas in it was the last thing you did before it started smoking then I would start there. Oil causes smoke and there's only 2 ways oil can get into the cylinder; mixed with gas or bypassing the piston rings. Lets hope its the gas.

Have an 85 chevy 4x4. I just had the 305 engine rebuilt with a new intake and carb. It was working fine for a couple days and one morning I went to start er up and the engine just cranked and cranked,...

When you turn the key front. Listen for the fuel pump to prime. It should sound like a low humming noise that lasts about 3 seconds. If it does then check for spark by pulling one of our sparkplug wires and putting an extra spark plug in it. Place the end of the wire down somewhere safe and crank the motor. If you can't seek spark in the plug, it is most likely your coil failing. So, check fuel pump and fuel pump relays first, then spark. Good Luck.

Can you give some details? Running, not running. Is this a "project"?

When was the last time it was running "good"?

Oil in the water - - - - not good Possible causes - blown headgasket, cracked block or cracked head.

Suggest a compression check on each cylinder

With some more details, perhaps we can give some specific recvommendations
