Hi,
So, you replaced thermostat housing complete. First of all you should access the Engine Control Module (ECM) using diagnostic equipment (VAS, VAG-COM, or similar) connected to the data link connector of the car, in order to pull out all DTC's memored. DTC = Diagnostic Trouble Code. Then you will bu full informed about the root cause of the problem, and you will be able to repair & replace bad pieces and reset the ECM. Let me know please about found DTC's. Then we will know exactly where these 2 wires will be attached to. I will guide you kindly to fix the problem. My e-mail address is: tdisline@yahoo.com. Does the check engine yellow MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) still lights on the dash?

I'm waiting for your reply.

In the picture below you have:
10 - Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor 1
12 - Engine Coolant thermostat

Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor 2 is placed on radiator outlet.

    Hi,
I understand that you do not have diagnostic equipment, but is necessary to find someone with it. Until you find one, I suggest you to carefully check the attach plug of two wires on the Engine Coolant thermostat, on the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor 1, and on the ECT sensor 2 placed on radiator outlet. Use a lamp and inspect also the engine harness around the thermostat housing. These two wires (white one & brown one) are placed both in a connecting plug with two pins? Or separately, each one? If so they are the same lenght?
The yellow check engine light can only be turned off using diagnostic equipment!
If the engine cuts out completely when gets to running temperature I suggest you to see if cooling fan works, and check ECT 1 sensor electrical connection, thermostat electrical connection, and ECT sensor 2 electrical connection. Also check the coolant level in the recovery reservoir.
I'm waiting for your reply. Best Regards!

My o3 navigators adjustable brakes will only move about 1/2 inch either direction. It's fine if they don't work but is there any way to move them to the farthest position manually?

With both tail light lenses removed locate the black with yellow wires and the dark green with brown wires coming out of the brake/tail/turn signal sockets.

The black with yellow wire will be the running lights or tail lights and the brown wire from the trailer harness will attach to it.

The green wire on the trailer harness will be the right turn signal and will be attached to the passenger side tail light harness dark green with brown wire.

The yellow wire on the trailer harness will be the left turn signal and will be attatched to the dark green with brown wire on the drivers side tail light harness.

The white wire on the trailer harness is the ground wire and will need to be attached to a good ground. Is it pretty easy to crimp an eyelet onto the end of the wire and use a self tapping screw to attach it to the body behind one of the tail light lenses.

Here is a trailer light/wiring article I have done in the past. It has a couple of good tips you may find useful.

First of all, the Bose amplifier needs to be activated when the after-market head unit is turned on. This is done by connecting a activation wire (often called a "remote" wire) in the factory radio plug. Usually this is a dark green or orange wire in the main radio plug, but in Onstar-equipped vehicles, the remote wire may be pink or orange in the smaller, secondary plug. In either case, the wire must be connected to the blue/white remote output from your new head unit, in order for the Bose amplifier to turn on.

Radio wiring problem 2001 Audi A3

Hi, had total issues with this too! Your back speakers arent going because they are amped by the factory amp in the boot. You have to provide power to the amp so that it will turn the rear speakers on. This was a white and black striped wire in my car (Audi A3 1997) The rear speakers are blue /green and brown/red (left rear) , and the LH rear is brown/red and (forgotten colour) but the wire on the bottom left under those two brown/red wires on the 20pin harness. If you wire it all up like this then your rears should be going :)

Note:
using an optional snap on wire harness adapter will simplify the wiring. Most snap on
wire harness adapters have already converted and color coded the wires from the auto
makers in dash wire harness to match typical aftermarket radio wire colors.
** The wire colors listed in the chart above are typical for these vehicles during these years
but may not be the exact colors for this vehicle. This is another reason to use a snap on
wire harness adapter. **
