Hi I bought a 94 s10 blazer it has a high emissions Oder I'm not smelling unburnt fuel but it's a strong smell just trying to find out what could be causing it ,oxygen sensor ,EGR what do you think thanks

You didn`t say what the emission readings were as this can help in looking in the right area.it should be put on a scan tool to see what the readings are,this will help too.

Emissions System not functioning properly can cause excessive fuel consumption. Emission System Evaporative Canister is likely clogged this will cause both oder and excessive use of fuel.
i have a 1994 gmc jimmy 4.3l cpi. i could not pass the emission test.hard to start, spuddered, and smell of gas was strong. long story short, i replaced my spider injectors, good to go. $278 brand new from auto zone.
If it is a strong smell of gas it could be your fuel pressure regulator going bad. If you have not changed the air filter lately it could be as simple as the engine not getting the correct amount of air mixture with the fuel. It could also be your converter clogging up and that is not good because that usually is the most expensive part.
Check your inline fuel filter also check your plugs wires for wear. Sounds like a possible Vacuum leak, when not starting. How ever strong smell suggests unburnt fuel. You may want to try a fuel system cleaner to remove any moisture in the fuel system and carbon build up in the exhaust if so try Seafoam available at your local auto parts store. The 93-94-95 all have this problem ..the fuel line that come into the back do split and leak ..other problem is with vaccum lines coming off the back of intake and vacuum lines come apart from a 3 way fitting.located fire wall .when these are off will cause gas smell and bad millage .... hopes this helps...
