Dont panic. as long as the light is on steady and not flashing, then dont panic. if its flashing, then panic and get the car towed to repair facility. if its on steady then scan it with a hand held scanner and pull codes out of the ecm and post findings. need to know the code number/s to get started. some autoparts stores will scan it for you for free, but they will actually not diagnose it for you. they will only give you the code number/s. scan and post codes to start diag.

Had new tires put on car yesterday and traction control and engine check light have come on today on 1999 lexus es300

Any time the check engine light comes on the traction control will be disabled and the light will also come on. Start with scanning the engine computer for trouble codes to see why the check engine light is on.

P1456 EVAP System Leak Detected (Fuel Tank)

You either have a cracked hose or an air leak to or on the fuel tank.

Myservice engine light came today rogh in idle at light rpms seem a little high this is a 98 saturn sl2 I think engine is a 1.9

the check engine light means that a code has been set. the code will reference a faulty system that must be diagnosed and repaired. sorry for the vagueness, but there are e gads of codes that can cause the rough idling

most aftermarket parts places will scan the car for free. this will give you an idea of where to start.

A check engine light can mean a variety of things. It could be as simple as changing your oil to as complex as sensors needing changing. Most local parts houses will run a free diagnostics check to check why the engine light is on. Once the check is done it will show you what sensors have been triggered. Have your mechanic look this list over and make the best decision based on the information. Usually a check engine light can be a simple fix. Hope this helps, good luck!
