If you were replacing a speed sensor on a 1998 Mazda 626 where would it be located? You can find the vss by going under the car, on backside of transmission facing the floorboards. Right where the transmission mounts to the engine, near the motor mount you will find the vss which points upward......it is held in with a 10mm bolt and pulls out upward. I unfortunately snapped the bolt and took it out in pieces with a vise-grip. Good Luck! Bill in CT.

HI..
The Speed sensor on your Honda Accord 97.
Is located on the Transmission.
If you follow the Lower Radiator hose from the rad to the engine.
The hose end on the Thermostat housing.
OK.. Just on direction of the thermostat housing .
Under the housing you Will see on the transmission the Speed sensor, with a connector of 3 wires. Is the only sensor at this
Part of the Transmission..
Ok. I hope this work on your question.
Thank you for use fixya..

Your speed sensor, is located on top of the transaxle, near the starter. To access it, remove the battery, then remove the battery tray (4 10mm bolts). You will see wires coming from the lower oxygen sensor, and they snap into the bracket that holds the speed sensor in place. The actual speed sensor has a 2 wire clip on it, and is held in place by the bracket and a 10mm bolt.

Be sure to check the vss (vehicle speed sensor) at the output shaft as it's a major input for both engine and transmission. This is the first one to suspect.
SOURCE: can you please tell me the location of the turbine
look on the tranny, especially near where either axle enters the transmission. most likely they will have a 2 wire plug connected to them.
SOURCE: I have a code p0715, which is the input turbine speed sensor
Have the same problem with the input speed sensor. The part, so far, is only made by Mitsubishi (Part No. 8651A111) and cost about $110 (w/ tax in TX).
