Question about 1992 Toyota Camry V6

1 Answer

Start with gas but shuts off when you let off

I was driving down the road one day and i had just put $10 in gas. I get a little, not even 2 to 3 minutes, down the road and it starts to jump and it cuts off. It would not start at all nothing heard at all. Well i replaced the fuel filter and i put a moduelator on where the timing is supposed to get and it starts up but only if you keep the gas down but if you let off it goes dead. What is the problem?

And what if the gasoline antifreeze doesn't work? do you think that it could be that the timing is to low? cause the car would not start at all and now that i put the piece that involved the timing it will start up now but you got to keep your foot on the gas. ???????

Buy a couple bottles of gasline antifreeze and put them in the tank and try it again.

if light on dash is on, then it sounds like a bad crank sensor. shuts off while driving down road, then will not start for about 15 minutes. heres more causes:: car shuts off when tempurature gets to normal-- low coolant, failing coolant tempurature sensor, air in water pump, failed radiator fan, it takes 10 to 15 minutes for a car to warm up. check or replace coolant temp. sensor if above is ok. have a good day !

This might sound a bit odd but check your ignition switch contacts for wear.Sounds like it could be a bad connect in there somewhere.I dont have any clue as to your abilty to try this yourself .If you need a hand let me know.

Yes I can help you. Change your coolant temperature sensor and all will be well. Only use Nissan, Bosch, or NGK part.

Mine does the same thing as far as shutting down on long trips---usually 1 1/2 - 2 hours. I don't think it's overheating....it's got something to do with antitheft system
