    Same problem. My cruise does not work and my turn signals will stay lit if I trigger them. Do you have to remove the steering wheel to replace the cruise/signals/lights switch?

It could be a switch failure. The later Audis (including my 99 A4) are known for this, in the cars where the cruise is part of the turn signal stalk. 99% of the time the fix is replacement of the stalk.

Cruise control box location. Cruise control does not engage. Service mechanic checked vacuum lines and they seem to be o.k. Suggestions?

cruise controls have to go through a series of sensors and switches before they work
brake pedal sensor , clutch pedal sensor if manual, VSS sensor, rpm (ignition module) control on switch,fuse,
one or a combination will not allow the cruise control to work

My cruise control on my 2008 chevy pickup stopped working. The light on the streeing wheel is on and the fuse is good. Everyone says to check the switch on the brake pedal. How do I adjust the switch?

after reading every post on every forum about the cruise control, I decided to pull the brake switch off of the pedal and have a look. I read somewhere that there is a spring loaded mechanism inside the switch that goes bad and makes the cruise think the brake is engaged. Upon inspecting the switch I saw a flat white bar that the brake rod depresses that engages the mechanism inside the switch. So like I always do... I sprayed the white swtch bar with wd 40 and worked it with a screw driver by pushing it and realeasing it until I heard it make a solid sounding click as it engaged and disengaged. I reinstalled the brake switch and all is well. Seems a little dust has clabbered the lubricant and was causing it to stick. So all is good and my cheap @ss didnt spend a dime. Total time including research was 1.5 hours.
Hope this helps someone else

I own a 2005 GMC Canyon Five CYL and the cruise control stopped working last niight. You push the button and no cruise. I checked the fuse and it is ok I exchanged with another 10AMP and no change still...

Start with the simple and check the fuses and the Stop lamp switch. Check your brake lights, if they're not working, the cruise won't work either. If they're not working, check the fuse for them, if the fuse is fine, then take it into the dealer, there's been a recall issued on the brake switch, so it should get fixed for free.
Cruise Control Disengaged
The powertrain control module (PCM) disengages the cruise control operation based on the signals from the following switches:

* The stop lamp switch
* The TCC brake/cruise release switch
* The clutch release switch, if equipped
* The cruise control On/Off switch

The TCC brake/cruise release switch and the stop lamp switch are mounted on the brake pedal bracket. When the brake pedal is applied, the normally closed TCC brake/cruise release switch opens and the normally open stop lamp switch closes. The PCM detects a low signal voltage on the TCC brake/cruise release switch signal circuit and a high signal voltage on the stop lamp switch signal circuit. When the clutch pedal is applied, the normally closed clutch release switch opens and the PCM detects zero voltage on the CCP switch signal circuit. The vehicle speed stored in the memory of the PCM will be erased when the cruise control On/Off button is turned OFF, or the ignition switch is turned OFF.

The Cruise Control System will disengage when the PCM detects that a driver override function has been active for approximately 60 seconds .

When the Cruise Control System is disengaged, the PCM sends a class 2 message to the instrument panel cluster (IPC) in order to deactivate the cruise control indicator.

Cruise Control Inhibited
The powertrain control module (PCM) inhibits the cruise control operation when any of the following conditions exist:

* A cruise control related DTC has been set.
* The vehicle speed is less than 40.2 km/h (25 mph) .
* The vehicle is in PARK, REVERSE, NEUTRAL, or 1st gear.
* The engine RPM is too low.
* The engine RPM is too high, with fuel cut off.
* The vehicle speed is too high, with fuel cut off.
* The system voltage is not between 9 volts and 16 volts .
* The Traction Control System (TCS) is active for more than 2 seconds .

Thank you for using Fixya and start with replacing the stop lamp switch. Even though the brake light work, it;s been known for that switch to cause your issue. that's way there was a recall for it.

2000 grand marquis cruise control not working

Have seen this problem before. You need to look under dash at brake pedal and find a blue switch with plunger contacting pedal, disconnect connector and jump with a peice of wire and drive to see if cruise works and if it does replace deactivation switch this should get you going.

98 chevy k1500 cruse control

Hi,

Appreciate the "Ask Me".

To my knowledge, Cruise Control would be relatively difficult to diagnose without a scan tool attached to the control module to read the error codes. Additionally, car versions in my country seldom have such a device since our roads are narrower and travel distance is not that great.

Though most known causes are:
  • the connector to the module;
  • loose brake pedal/switch;
  • loose clutch pedal/switch (for manual transmission);
  • vacuum line to actuator (most likely), vacuum actuator, diaphragm, control valve.
Other possible components to check are:
  • the control module itself (bolted to the firewall);
  • control cable or linkage;
  • speedometer sensor;
  • steering wheel controls switches;
  • throttle position sensor.
As posted above, quite a number of possibilities. Any other indications, speedometer OK; abnormal throttle responses; abnormal idling, brake light always ON, slack in the accelerator/gas pedal? Was it cutting in/out before? Was there any recent repair work done on the engine before the cruise control cut out?

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
