I have a 2002 Pontiac gran prix. Power to lights,radio- but will not make any sound or attempt to start when turning key. Smells like burnt wires under hood?

I would check the starter relay/fuse and wiring to the starter. With the key in the crank position (someone holding it there) see if power makes it to the starter solenoid or the relay . BBB Industries have wiring diagrams online under Technical at no charge.

An 85 5.0 everything worked now turn key no radio no attempt to start nothing

check the grounds at the starter solenoid and usually the solenoid has a bad ground. make sure there is a ground to the body and the chassis.

Doesnt want to even attempt to start the battery is good

Try tapping the starter with a hammer while someone bumps the key. If it tries to turn replace starter if nothing happens then i would say the starter solenoid is probably bad.

I have a 1990 Chevrolet Camaro with the anti theft device several years ago someone had attempted to steal my car end result had to have a new steering column put in and ever since then the car will go...

You can bypass that system entirely now. Not just the key with a resistor, but the theft module and everything.

Everything is fine, but then without warning, i turn ignition key and everything blacks out

Sounds like a loose connection. Check all battery and starter connections for clean and tight connections.

A few weeks ago i started my 84 S10. It normally starts fine. After i turned it off i tried to turn it back on and it wont do anything. everything works like the radio and everything. When i turn the key...

This sounds like you may have a starter issue. Have someone in the vehicle to try cranking and hold it in this position. You go underneath and attempt to tap the starter with a small hammer to see if it frees it up. If it does, replace your starter. Let me know if you need anything further.

Car has power but no start

Double check all connections at battery & starter and make sure they are tight & clean. Turn headlights on & have someone try to start & see if headlights dim at all.
Starter should be at lower part, back of engine. Back as in, opposite the end with the pulleys.

On my girlfriends sl1 the engine would not turn over at all and I took the starter off and it was fried! I replaced it and it started right away, but I never had a problem with the lights not coming on.
