I had the same problem and welded mine back together. It is running like brand new again. I can do this for yours as well. Please send me picks of the manifold (w/ cracks) and I will let you know a price. christian_brennan at yahoo dot com.

If it is one complete assy- then take it all off
& have it welded

Otherwise you have to do what is necessary to get
new header on to the part of the system you have to
cut off & save

I didn't answer the question as posed-- because i don't know
what you have on there

Is a 1998 gmc sierra motor the same as a 1999 blazer motor they are both v6 4.3l

yes the difference is in the exhaust manifold, the difference in clearance between the frame rails, order new exhaust manifolds (aka headers) and retain the motor mounts from the engine being replaced.

My 1998 buick century is leaking coolant from the engine where the water pump is mounted.

it could be a loos hose clip or the water pump, there is a gasket behind the water pump this could be leaking as well there is a quick fix you could try if its a clip or gasket leaking it should stop the leak, but it wont stop a water pump leaking ,,,,,,,,,,,
get some "rad seal" and tip it into the rad,,,not the header tank it go's right into the rad then top it up with water and run up the engine itll its hot after a short time the leak should stop,,fords put it in all there new cars and vans that come out there fatctorise,, so if its good for them to use it,, it must work?

if the exhaust is just cracked i wouldnt worrie about the engine because you still have a lot of backpressure and it should not burn a valve. but replacing the header is a good idea if the header itself is cracked. and to tell you the truth your mechanic should be responsible for the cost of the repair since he broke it in the first place. In the shop i own if one of my mechanics breaks something it comes out of my pocket to replace. its all part of the job sometimes things just happen and you have to take the responsibility for it
