No fuel pressure. checked the relay and fuse. no pressure at fuel rail so I replaced the fuel pump still no pressure.

  • Anonymous Jan 22, 2013

I have 2008 Chevy impala, and the car died out while i was on the expressway. It left me stranded, and it would not start back up. I had it towed to chevy and they told me it was the fuel pump it had no presure, and they wanted to charge me 875 dollars. I decided to tow my car to a family friend who works on cars. He put a brand new fuel pump in, and the car still did ot start. Come to find out it was the fuse. Chevy was going to charge me 875 dollars to change a fuse. This is crazy i'm frustrated with GM cars

If the fuse and the relay is good then you will have to check the powers and grounds at the connection for the pump at the tank.have you replaced the fuel pressure as if its plugged you won`t get any pressure.i trust you checked the pressure with a gage as just pushing on the schrader valve is not checking the pressure.

  • Anonymous Nov 01, 2011

thanks for responding. I checked the pressure with a gauge at the schrader valve. I am not hearing anything from the pump with the key on. would a bad fuel pressure regulator keep the pump from running ?

  • robert wales Nov 01, 2011

a pressure regulator will not stop a pump from running.you will have to check to make sure the pump is getting power and has a good ground.if the pump is not running its a voltage problem or quite possible the pump may be leaking at the line.

My 2000 honda crv is a crank no start, gets spark, replaced fuel pump and filter ... starts quick with starter fluid in near air filter. It's like it's not getting the gas, please help...?

Check for fuel pressure at the injector rail. If no pressure, check pump circuit and relay. If pressure at rail, check injector fuse. It’s also possible the fuel filter is clogged.

Fuel rail pressure code 43 / Po191

Check to make sure the fuel pump is working. If the fuel pump is not working check the fuel pump fuse and fuel pump relay, also check to make sure the inertia cut off switch hasn't been tripped. If the fuel pump is working then check the fuel pressure regulator.

1999 chrysler 3.5 lhs fuel not going to injectors

Then your fuel pump is not working, or your fuel filter is blocked. You will probably have to check your fuel pump circuit if you have no fuel pressure in the fuel rail, where the injectors sit. There is a fuse for the pump, usually in the under hood fuse/relay block. That is probably also where the fuel pump relay is located. You should hear or feel this relay click when the ignition key is cycled from off to on. Also, when the key is turned to on, you should hear the fuel pump in the gas tank turn on for about 2 seconds. This will put the pressure in the gas in the fuel rail, for starting the engine. If you don't hear the pump turn on for that 2 second period, it is probably a bad fuel pump. But know the fuse is good first.

How to troubleshoot a no fuel problem, no fuel at fuel rail in a 2000 olds sillhouette.

First check there is battery voltage to the pump and the pump starts when the ignition is switched on , if not check fuse and relay, check wiring from relay to pump. If ok and the pump is working , check for fuel blockage from the tank inlet to the pump , some have a sock type filter in the tank pick up tube, if all ok remove the fuel filter , switch on and fuel should flow at the filter, fit a new filter, if still no fuel at the rail fit a fuel pressure gauge an check for low pressure , if ok, the fuel pressure regulator may be stuck causing a air lock replace it.

Car is turning over but wont start seems like gas problem

Listen for the 2 second hum or buzz from the gas tank, when you turn the key to on, not start. The pump should run for about 2 seconds to put pressure in the lines and up to the fuel rail. If you don't hear it, first check the fuel pump fuse, usually in the under hood fuse/relay center. Or you could check for fuel pressure at the testing port-shrader valve- on the fuel rail. If you punch the center valve down with a small screwdriver, gas should try to spurt out. If no pressure, the pump is bad or the wiring to it needs to be investigated. Power flows from the battery to the fuse to the fuel pump relay and then to the gas tank. The relay is turned on by the pcm and allows the relay to pass power on to the pump.

Many parts stores rent or loan fuel pressure gauges to check your fuel pressure. The correct pressure is critical for the injectors to work right. If the car won't start, check fuel pressure and check for spark. Usually gas or spark is the problem.

No Fuel Pressure

More likely the pump is not putting gas up to the engine's fuel rail.
With key on, not start, the pump should turn on for 2 seconds to put pressure in the line and fuel rail. Do you hear the buzz or hum from the tank with key on?
Did you put a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail's test port (shraeder valve), and find no pressure with key on? If so, you will need to check into the pump operation (assuming the fuel filter is not clogged). A quick test is to pull off the gas tank electrical connector, find the fuel pump wire in the connector, and use a test light grounded to a metal frame or a voltmeter. Check for power on the fuel pump wire, while the engine is being cranked over. If power then, your new pump is not working. It could be the ground for the pump, so you need to check that. If no power to pump, engine cranking, then you will have to find the fuel pump relay under the hood, and check the wiring to it. There is also a fuel pump fuse-it may be under hood or in the instrument fuse panel-need to find and check it.
If the pump is working and the fuel filter is clean, you should have gas in the fuel rail (which supplies the injectors with fuel under pressure). I have not heard of a pressure regulator problem that could cause no pressure, but then...
Post back what you find, or with comments. Hope this has helped a little.

Replaced fuel pump, no fuel pressure. Disconnected fuel rail supply, no pressure.

Use a meter and check if you are getting power at the fuel pump. Check the fuse, and fuel pump relay.

Ran yesturday, tried today no fuel in lines, or pressure in rail, fuel pump not activating

Check the fuel pump fuse and relay under the hood in the fuse panel. If both fuse and relay are good then fuel pump may be at fault, but it seems too new for a fuel pump replacement. Hope this helps. Keep me posted please. Good luck
