Remember that when you THINK the AC's off,it's really not.Almost all cars have the AC compressor actuate every time you set the dial to `defrost' or `mix' positions.
On a TAURUS there are only two positions(maybe three)which DON'T kick the AC on.On some cars, that's the 11 o'clock and 2 o'clock positions on the selector.

SO...........the odds are that the compressor magnetic clutch or wiring to it has shorted.Because you really have power going there even when you think you don't. (:^) don-ohio

Okay,do you mean the selector switch for where the air exits, like at your feet or from the panel,or up to the windshield? THAT selector is in `off'? Usually the `temp selector has no `off' position, just cold thru hot. don-ohio

Car dies while driving, won't restart, lights, and gauges good. pch fuse is blown and keeps blowing except when pch relay is removed

What relay ? I have factory service information an see no pch relay, do you mean PCM relay ! Possibly the relay is shorted inside , did you try another one ? What all does that relay power up ? find a wiring diagram for that relay an disconnect all the components one at a time till fuse doesn't blow !

2001 ford Taurus code P1633 what does it mean and how do I fix it ?

P1633 - Keep Alive Power Voltage Too Low

Indicates that the Keep Alive Power (KAPWR) circuit has experienced a power interrupt.

Possible causes:
-Open KAPWR circuit.
-Damaged PCM.
-Intermittent KAPWR Circuit.

First thing would be to check the fuse associated with the KAP. In your case, that would be fuse #22 (10A). If you're A/C doesn't work, then that's why. Usually the A/C clutch causes the fuse to blow and your get your P1633 code.

If the fuse is fine and the A/C works, then it might be a bad PCM. If the battery was bad before it might have set this code. Have you tried clearing the codes to see if it comes back or not?

Remove the a/c clutch wire connector,
& see if the fuse still blows, before
changing the clutch hub

May be a bad diode in the wiring harness somewhere

or it may not even be the problem

Need to see all of fuse 22's circuit on paper

Which # fuses control the A/C system from the fuse box on the drivers side

Fuse panel under drivers dash... # 32 controls a portion of the A/C controls among several other things.

Power Distribution Box under hood, next to battery... # 22 controls the A/C clutch and the PCM stay alive power.

Both are 10 amp fuse's....

What fuse is the windshield wiper fuse in a 2001 ford taurus?

Check on Passenger Fuse Compartment the position 15 30AMP for Front Wiper Motor. Additionally, in the Fuse Box (underhood) check position 25 - Wiper Speed Relay and 29 - Wiper Park Relay (blank space) but could have some use.

Other details in the 2001 taurus owners manual.

P1211 and P0603 codes have come on after installing superchip

Hi,

For P1211 :-

This code means the ICP pressure is aove or below specs meaing there is a high pressure oil concern. You need to monitor the ICP with a scan tool and see which it is. If its high then its most likely a faulty IPR valve. If its low then its most likely a internal leak at the pump or stand pipes.

For P0603 :-

The code P0603 is in ost case set due to the performance chip.
If equipped, remove and recheck operation.

If the vehicle is not equipped with a chip, or removing it makes no difference, monitor the voltage on fuse #22 in the interior fuse panel to see if the battery voltage goes away when the problem occurs.

If the voltage on fuse #22 is dropping or going away, check for a loose terminal connection on the PCM power relay. Also try swapping the PCM power relay with a similar part to eliminate a faulty relay.

If the relay is OK, but the voltage on fuse 22 is dropping, suspect an internal problem with the interior fuse panel.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
