Check Engine Light On. Vehicle runs and drives fine.

A vehicle check engine light can come on for a variety of reasons. Many times your vehicle will run perfectly fine even with a sensor that is bad. You still want to get these fixed due to the fact that it can cause lower gas mileage or in time cause problems with your vehicle. If you go to Auto zone they can plug a computer into your car for free and tell you what is bad. Once those problems are fixed the same place can check your vehicle again and clear the check engine light.

Just got a1999 jeep wrangler sport with a 4.0l 6cyl and 124,000 miles, what is the best oil and oil filter to use. anthony

There are several different oils to use. I would run a high mileage oil if possible, the brand really doesn't make a difference, but on the oil fill cap it will recommend the proper weight such as 5-30 or 5-20 or 10-40, etc. Proper weight in a high mileage oil is best. Oil filters are about the same way. FRAM being probably the most popular and widely used.

quite possibly it may be taking a little while to build fuel pressure. next time try cycling the key on and off 3 or 4 times with out cranking the vehicle to allow the pump to build pressure the try to star it up if it starts right up then your problem is it's just taking time to build pressure

My 2002 jeep wrangler sport 4 cyl engine lite stays on dashboard,it does not affect performance.

Have you taken it to your mechanic to run the diagnostics... I had the same issue and it turned out to be a vapor lock issue that required a gas tank gasket replaced.

99 jeep wrangler 4.0 backfires and hesitates

Fairly common problem. Typical scenario is start vehicle, runs fine for 15 to 30 seconds and begins to backfire when placed under load as customer tries to drive vehicle. Flooring usually makes the problem go away. Usually does not throw a code.

Fix is to replace the upstream 02 sensor.
