1997 T4 Transporter 2.0 RPM slow return through gears & idle hunting problem

Hello, in need of help, spent heaps on my van and still the same, when i drive it the revs stay up when i change gears, if i give it a rev it takes time to return to idle, when i start it warm the idle hunts for a minute or so then returns to normal, also only sometimes when coasting with out accelerating then i push the clutch in it stalls, 4 mechanics have had a go at it, including 2 VW dealers, ive changed, o2 sensor, coil pack, spark plug leads, thrott position sensor, idle control valve, water temp sensor, ecu relay, vac hoses, had the thrott body cleaned, timing checked, now there telling me it might be the ecu thats faulty, any sugestions, thanks

well gee, there are 50 reasons.
did you scan the PCM yet, if not ,why not?

2: or any of 50 other things causing huge engine power drop and PCM can't maintain idle controls.

Some vehicles have got a sensor which increases the idle when air conditioner is switched on because of the extra load on the engine, this sensor may need adjusting, not sure where it is located exactly, sorry.

Vw transporter t4 tdi 1998 - what is the belt on the o/s/middle of the engine as you look at it?

1997 T4 Fuel injected petrol I have had this problem no matter how much money i have spent trying to fix it between ejectors services new timing belt and many services. it went ok when i took ownership i have had CD fitted, Alarm, NOKIA phone kit fitted don't know if it is electrical but timing seem to be always out. Is it posable that these extras fitted can play up with computer as it seem to begin around this time? or is it just a coincidence every time it has services i get told timing is set right Please can someone help.

Does any one know anything about air suspension on a old AA van a VW transporter t4 2.5 tdi

Hi,

They are a supplimentry system that in effect gives your springs a helping hand when the van is loaded/towing.
They are designed to run at a minimum pressure of 1 bar pressure.
There should be a sticker on the drivers side "B" pilar that states the max- min working pressures.

Hope that helps.

Cheers Trev.
