Question about 2005 Ford Freestar

Small leak - big problem?

I have a 2005 Ford Freestar with 80,000 miles. I noticed a small leak. It is located south of the front passanger side wheel-well, about 1.5 in. The fluid is clear. Is this something minor or very serious? Thanks for any input.

How to replace the 4.2 L engine front seal?

First you need to make sure you know the exact source of the leak, stream or press wash the engine and drive it for about 10 miles then recheck the leaks source. Keep in mind wind pressure blows the hot oil all over the place. Do the driving at low speeds if possible.

I have an F-350 Ford 2001...lost transmission after 4 years 80,000 miles...new one replaced at Ford Dealership at the cost of 4200.00. Now at 60,000 miles and almost four years, in two weeks,on this...

Where is the leak? If its from the front of the pan just replace the gasket and refill the trans. If its coming from the front oil seal you must remove the transmission to replace the seal. Lucas makes a transmission sealer/conditioner that we have had success with, it may be worth a try and is available at any parts store.Good luck hope this helped you out.
