Re:- the buzzing behind the dash:-
Its tiny a fan which carries on running in humid conditions to circulate the air so you dont get blasted by warm air when you use your climate control. It circulates air across the humidity sensor. It keeps running for a while after you switch off, and starts again when you open a door. It does this so that there is less delay in getting the climate control to the right setting when you switch on (or restart).

The buzzing sound you can hear behind the dash or to the left of the steering column is the thermostat (climate) control, which feeds back to the climate control unit to monitor the cabin temperature. easy solution is to replace the unit (£25) from ford dealer.

I had he same problem & I stuck my hand in under the steering colum & unplugged the unit & remove it from a small inch size vent on the dash on the right side of steering. I haven't replaced it yet. 2 yrs without it, because no repair shop knew what it was really all about.

Weird whining sound

Sounds like worn rear gearbox bearing. It its manual , and bone mote than 120,000. Remove fuse to radio and see if it still makes the noise

2004 cavalier died going down the rd.when you try to start it it makes a lot of odd buzzig sounds in the dash and you cant hear the fuel pump kick on

If the buzzing sounds like chatter, its a fuel pump relay that is either not getting enough voltage, a loose
connection, or you may just need to replace the relay.sometimes these relays will be behind the dash, accessible, or within your fuse block area, on chevy trucks i have seen them behind the glove box.
good luck!

Grinding noise from behind the dash. The noise sounds like it is related to the tachometer. I have a 2004 Suburban with the Stabilitrak system where it is in All wheel drive all the time (no 2H only All...

No idea what the problem is either. I have a 04' LT that started doing it as well. Doesnt matter hot or cold, does it randomly. Usually when I come to a fast stop then resume speed its sounds like grinding in the dash and while hitting the gas I get NO acceleration, let off for a second then its good. Its happening more often now than before. Does anyone have any ideas?

Truck is not starting, also fuel shutdown system was restart. you think it is the fuelpump

Hi

it could be the fuel pump but with the cost involved I would look at other cheaper options before replacing the pump.

the fuel cut off was reset but have you checked the fuel pump relay, the relay is a small electromagnet type switch inside a small black or green box on the main fuse box. if this is working correctly then when you turn the ignition on you should here a slight buzzing noise or a click normally from the dash area. I do not have schematics for this vehicle so you will need to locate the fuel relay to rule that out. if there is no noise then the relay is not working, if there is a buzzing noise then the pump is functioning, it is difficult sometimes as one needs the other to work or at least give some indication of the fault.

Try the relay first and then go from there, you may be able to test the pump by fitting 2 wires from the fuse box, again it will make a buzzing sound if its working. Lastly try and remove the battery overnight that will reset the ECU or cars computer to factory settings in most cases.

Hope this helps, have a good new year.
Regards
Dan

1999.5 Jetta 2.0 GLS manual trans. was having a random loud buzzing/clicking noise coming from the instrument panel. The buzz/click has now turned into a loud, constant buzz.

Hi, this is a very common problem and its not only your make peugeot's have the exact same problem, its a tiny little fan that just sits behind the dash and all it does is gently circulate the air round the inside of the dash to keep everything cool and stop and heat building uo

i know its very very annoying but the only option is to take the whole dash out just to get to a fan thats about the size of a milk bottle cap and its just not worth doing, i know its annoying but you will be even more annoyed when you cant put your dash back together,

my mom has got a peugeot with the exact same noise it sounds like their is a fly trapped behind the dash well thats what my mom though anyway she kept banging the dash and spraying fly spray everywhere then when i got in the car she asked me if i could hear the fly and asked how long they live for cuz its been their for ages it was only when i told her it was a little fan she realised that maybe its not a trapped fly.

its up to you rip the dash out and bust the fan but its a big job just to stop a tiny little fan i know its very annoying but their is no easy fix sorry.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

Clicking noise behind dash when starting; tripometer resets to 0

the clicking sounds like the starter solenoid engaging & disengaging due to low voltage. Battery may have a short. Check voltage with engine off. Should be 12 volts. Engine running 14 volts.

Slight vibration feeling

is it a buzzing type sound? That can happen both the driver and passengerside. there is a white clip that locks the dash to the firewall. you need to get at it as stick a piece of felt to stop the vibration. but it is very tough to reach..

Liquid noises coming from the dash board

heated water goes to your heater core under your dash..though you shouldnt be hearing it usually..be sure water level is up at radiator overflow reservoir and pay attention in cabin of any sweet smell of coolant indicating a failing /leaking heater core....look for damp carpet on passenger front area if suspicious
