I have a 1996 isuzu trooper and when I accelerate sometimes the intrument panel lights come Oma nd I lose all power. The stereo turns off and it is like the car is stuck in 4 th gear. When this happens and I accelerate it is almost like the winter drive button is stuck on. Also when this happens the stereo turns off. The problem goes away when I turn off the car but it does not fix the problem for a long period of time

Isuzu changed trooper models in 1998-99 if yours is the older type then 1992-98 if the newer type then 99-05

Replace the speed sensor located on the transmission this sends the signal to the speedometer, you may want to check the plug and its terminals to be sure the terminals in the plug are not corroded if they are clean the terminals with electrical contact cleaner then drive the care see if cleaning the plug fixed it if not replace the speed sensor.
