Re: Suzuki Grand Vitara Losing power
There are a lot of possiblities. Mass air flow sensor, o2 sensor. So this was hooked up to an OBD2 scanner and no codes came up? A good mechanic should be able to diagnose this problem in person. It is very hard to do over the internet but I will do my best to give you the most probable culprits. If you have a moment to accept and rate my solution on the original problem it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Lee

This will need to be put on a scanner to see what sensor has flagged up.. The car will not be as efficient with this light on so get it checked asap.
Use a good local garage...listen to what they say. If it doesnt make sense, write it down and come back here with description.
im late but its , not solved, says the fixya brain. ring the bell 10 times, the first poster that actually posted engine type. on this forum ! wow ! i'm Gobspacked ! then mileage, I'm star struck, way to go !
I think the engine is the Suzuki 2.0L engine. The J20 is the name. a very nice engine. that hiss is bad, most likely and easy fix. here is the 50 cent fix. :
buy a rubber hose, say 1/4" or 5mm ID. about 3 foot long. bingo , poor mans stethoscope. put end 1 in ear. ply end 2 around all possible vacuum leaks idling you will find it. this engine , bty is an AIR density EFI system that means, AIR leaks cause LEAN fuel mixtures and bogging. you are on track !
The 1.9-litre diesel engine in the latest version is sourced from
Renault and delivers a hefty 221 ft lbs of torque for reassuring
operation both on and off road. This power makes the Grand Vitara a far
more versatile proposition, with even enough power to pull a small
caravan if required.
Take the car to an autoparts store and have them scan the computer for any fault codes stored. The check engine light is to alert you that the computer has noted a fault in one of the car's systems. Getting the codes will show what the computer has noted and curb the need for speculation. Most parts stores will perform the scan for free. Hope this helped and best wishes.
Take your rig.. drive it to a gas station.. fill the tank up with gas.. also fill 2 jugs of gasoline at the same time... put the jugs in the back of it.. now drive as far as you can until the rig runs out of gas.. then, take the two jugs of gas.. pour it all over the rig, inside and out.. now light it a-blaze, then walk to your nearest car dealer and buy a new car..
