Question about 1994 Nissan Altima

1 Answer

ABS Light I have a 1994 Nissan Altima and around March I went to a shop to get my front wheels fix and when I pick up my car the ABS light was on and the guy told me not worry it's nothing major just ignore it. Anyway, it's now September and it's getting on my nervus. So I would like to know how can I fix this problem on my own without going to another repair shop and the guy who fix my car is a freind of my dad so thats why I didn't argue.

Turn the ignition off then restart the engine. Is the light off? If yes, start driving. Is the light on? If yes, you have a faulty wheel speed sensor. You will have to find out Which one is bad. If you live near an AUTOZONE, they offer free diagnostic.

Where are the abs sensors ?

ABS sensors are part of your brake system. There is one in the brake pads on each wheel. If the ABS light is on, it usually means that your car has sensed a dangerous situation and has deployed the ABS system to help you stop safely. If only the ABS light is on, then one may be gunked up, or you need to have your brakes checked. If you've had any other work done around the wheels, apparently, they can be bumped quite easily. This repair is not very expensive, if you have a good local mechanic. or brake shop.
On the other hand, if the ABS AND brake lights are on, and you hear a constant beeping, there's is a good chance that your ABS control module has gone out. Unfortunately, this is an extremely common problem with Audis of this era. Many VWs use the same part, and they were recalled (but Audis weren't). There is a grey market where you can picked them up a somewhat cheaper, but the original ABS control module went for around $1700.
I hope it's a bad sensor!

Nissan pathfinder deisel 2007 slows down between 100-120km while foot flat - ABS and (!) light on

The exclamation mark is not something you should ignore. The whole thing could be caused by the ABS light because stability control is limited now because of the ABS. That would cause power to be limited also. Get the engine dignosed for free at any autoparts store that is a large chain store.

The Abs lights in the Nissan Wingroad is on, how to turn it off? also the speedo metre is not working. will it be related?

you need to have faults read. you need a scanner to read codes and any good parts store or shop can scan and tell you what needs to be repaired or what triggered fault. Once fault is fixed they cabn reset lights for you.

Replacing the front lights on a Nissan Almera.

I needed my headlight bulb changed. The repair shop quoted $125. Their repair manual said the front bumper had to be removed to access the light. But they found a work-around: by removing the battery, they were able to get at the light and replace the bulb. Only cost me $46 to replace my $5 bulb!

try disconnecting the negitive battery cable these trucks had a tendency to have the abs send a false signal to the idiot light leave it disconnected for about 20 minutes if not fixed then have the obd 1 codes read at an auto parts store it could be the abs sensor on the front wheels but it was usaully just a false ground reading
