You can jump directly to the battery. the procedure for doing this is as follows connect the positive cable to the dead vehicle(yours) then connect the ground cable either to the battery or to the engine block. then conect the positve cable to the jump vehicle then connect the ground. start the jump vehicle and rev engine to 1500-2000 rpm for 2 minutes. let vehicle idle for 5 minutes. then try and start dead vehicle. sometimes the whole thing takes 10 to 15 minutes to be successfull. please rate the solution.........thanks

The trunk wont open and the battery is dead

Hi, you can jump the car at the engine. Just hook the negative jumper to a good engine ground point and hook the positive to a big hot point, like the starter solenoid. An easier spot would be a fuse box terminal if there is one handy.
If you just want to open the trunk and jump start from there, you can make your remote work by jumping to the interior fuse box. Hook the negative jumper to a good chassis ground point, turn the key on, hook a wire to the positive jumper and touch it to most any point in the fuse box while clicking your trunk button.
Let me know if you have questions and thanks for using FixYa.

Need to jump start my toureg 2004 but dont know where the jumping points are

There is a positive terminal under a small red plastic cover under the hood, near the firewall on the driver's side. There is a negative post sticking straight out of the firewall near there. Originally would have had a grey or black plastic cover that screws on top of it and looks like a large bolt. Need to unscrew and remove to use as a jump point.

Need to open trunk, battery dead and no mechanical key. 2001 Mercedes S-class.

I am hoping you don't have the doors locked.
Open the hood and there will be a HOT point (jump station) under the hood. It will usually be housed in red plastic. Jump start it there and all should be a go from there.
Good luck!

Where to connect jumping cables on the battery

Dead car --- Red to + ... Black to -

Hot car --- Red to + ... Black to any metal car part away from the battery. Let the hot car charge the battery for a couple minutes before you try it. Try it. IMPORTANT: DISCONNECT THE HOT CAR BLACK JUMPER FIRST, then take the black off the dead car. Then disconnect the dead car red and then the other end on the hot car.

I have not start my car and the battery went dead

If you dont have a "jump block" under the hood, you can carefully attach a decent size wire to the positive (large) terminal of the starter and the ground to anywhere on the engine block. that will give you a decent power source to open the trunk.
