Ok... there is a problem with these sorts of things. sometimes the clutch will ge a condition called clutch dust. and its caused by grinding and hard shifting. sometimes poor alignment. take your vechile to a tranny shop and have them do an inspection on your clutch.

92 ford explorer. runs great. replaced vaccum modulator recently. shifting from park to drive the engine revs up ( 60% of the time) and its like in neutral. then i shift back into neutral and wait till...

Sounds like the filter in the trans is plugged up. Should flush trans every 45,000 miles and replace filter and fulid. Its easier to take it in to a shop and have it done they use high pressure flush which will clean out the whole thing for about $200.

Trouble in shifting

I am having trouble understanding what you are saying but it sounds like you are saying the transmission shift points are too high. (Holds the gears too long, RPM's too high before it shifts) RIght? Check to see if you have vacuum to the modulator at Idle. If yes replace the modualtor.

Had that problem on a 93. There is a plastic piece inside the trans that cracked and needs to be replaced...=...Trans rebuild.
