Question about 2003 Honda Pilot

2003 Honda Pilot key stuck in ignition

The key to my pilot was a little sticky for quite some time but I could still get it in and out with a bit of jiggling. I took it to my local dealer to order another key and was informed that I would need a new ignition block. The dealer kept spraying wd-40 into the key hole and for a while the key would not read to start the car. After letting it sit for awhile I got it to go and the key was coming out relatively easily. The dealer wanted to see this and proceeded to jam the key into the ignition and it would not longer come out. So today I am having a new ignition block put in, it went in at 9:00 am and they have just finished with it now at 4:30 pm. Could you tell me it this is a reasonable amount of time for the ignition change? I have a feeling our local dealer is once again taking me for a "ride" please reply.

I had the same problem. It was like my key gained too much weight and wouldn't fit in the ignition. Honda wanted to replace the entire ignition after I tried my spare key. Someone told me about trying a locksmith. I did that. The car was there for about an hour and it cost around $90. They cleaned the ignition and bent back some peice of metal (can't remember what it was called) that was causing the problem.

Hope this helps.

My 07 Pilot key fob has quit working, replaced the battery with the CR1616 like the one that was in it. Still not getting a light on the key fob when I push button. Its fob fried?

If the little light doesn't work when you push a button, it's either dead, or fried. Be sure you put the battery in correctly too.

Dealer cut a new key for Pilot but it won't work

If the key fits mechanically, and the lock turns, then the key has been cut correctly. However if it just won't start the vehicle, then the transponder chip within the key will need programming. The dealer should have the equipment to do this. Do not accept a key that does not start the car - and certainly don't pay unless it does.

Ignition switch repairs

Once the dealer hooks up their computer and activates the ignition you shouldn't need to go back, The code that you were given is usually just a temp code to get you to the dealer.
