Hi, i have a 2000 kia sportage and it is an automatic. It does not have much power and seems like it is labouring all the time. It is useless in the hills and on the highway it does not have enough power to drive it on the highway. The compression on all 4 cylinders is 190 psi. Thanks...
I also have a 2000 auto i had same problem it turned out to be my cataltic converter when i took it off the iside had fallen to peices and cloged it it could not breath put a new one on and it was as good as new.

Hi i presume no engine codes have poped up if so retify this first if not you need to tune your engine to see if this makes any differance if not test the fuel pressure at fuel rail if that is sound test the fuel regulator to see if it stuck open check all vacuum hoses if everything is ok check the distrubuter and cap rotor etc and the internal working have not come loose if everything checks out you need to see if there is any blockage in the exhaust system includer your header is not carboned up yates210456

Hi there, My book says for your 2000 Sportage the engine oil should be 10w-30 mineral oil. For this year Sportage its the same oil for petrol or diesel. I hope this is enough info for you John ( South Wales UK )
if its a automatic and the engine is cold it wont shift into the last gear. the tranny and engine have to be at close to normal running temp to shift. its normal and nothing to freak over. if this isn't the case go to kia-forums.com/1g-1994-2002-sportage/ and post a thread there or look for one. great site
hi is this manuall if so does the noise dissapear when the clutch is pressed if so your first motion shaft bearings gone in your box is there any play in the gear shift as as it could also be the selectors have play in them as they use the same fork and gearhub if this is the case if it was mine i would overhall the box as it would be another hours labour +parts replaced yates210456
