2000 kia sportage

Hi, i have a 2000 kia sportage and it is an automatic. It does not have much power and seems like it is labouring all the time. It is useless in the hills and on the highway it does not have enough power to drive it on the highway. The compression on all 4 cylinders is 190 psi. Thanks...

No, codes came up. I checked the exhaust system and also removed the cats just to make sure and stil no power. I will do a fuel pressure test and see what that tells me. I will keep you updated. Thanks...

I will check the fuel pressure and if that don't do anything, I will check the exhaust manifold and make sure evertything is clear. That is what it seems like to me a restriction somewhere. I also have a 2001 Kia Sportage and that is like driving a V6 compared to the 2000 Sportage, I have. The 2 of them has the exact same 2.0L engines and automatic transmissions. Thank you again for helping me out here. I appreciate your help very much.

Hi i presume no engine codes have poped up if so retify this first if not you need to tune your engine to see if this makes any differance if not test the fuel pressure at fuel rail if that is sound test the fuel regulator to see if it stuck open check all vacuum hoses if everything is ok check the distrubuter and cap rotor etc and the internal working have not come loose if everything checks out you need to see if there is any blockage in the exhaust system includer your header is not carboned up yates210456

hi if your having a problem also check the you call it a header we call it the exhaust manifold if you take it away from the engine check the head as well that the port holes are not carboned up as it would seem you have one of them its proberly going to be something unusall i have checked for problems with this model and it seems this is a problem that does happen quite a bit but nobodies saying what the problem is i will keep looking into it for you yates210456

hi no problem its hard to pin point things when i can,t drive or hear them but all credit to you your trying to have a go let me know how you go on do me a favour check your gearbox oil for level and make sure its the right colour as if everything checks out on the engine the box may be slipping the only other thing that can cause an engine to run flat is timming i cannot remember if your model has cam position sensor as these go faulty an do affect the ignition timming best of luck yates210456

Does a 2000 kia sportage have a fuel injector button or neutral switch?

No injector button, but if its an automatic trans it would have a neutral safety switch to prevent you from cranking the engine in drive or reverse.

What type of oil for the kia 4 by 4 sportage 2000

Hi there, My book says for your 2000 Sportage the engine oil should be 10w-30 mineral oil.
For this year Sportage its the same oil for petrol or diesel.
I hope this is enough info for you

I have a 2000 kia sportage 4x4, no check engine light and it will not shift into 3rd gear.please help

if its a automatic and the engine is cold it wont shift into the last gear. the tranny and engine have to be at close to normal running temp to shift. its normal and nothing to freak over. if this isn't the case go to kia-forums.com/1g-1994-2002-sportage/ and post a thread there or look for one. great site
