Question about 2004 Kia Sorento

2004 kia sorento fuel pump replacement

Engine cuts out when driving. At first it won't restart, but after sitting starts and runs fine for a while then repeats. Does this sound like a failing fuel pump?

Hello i have a 2004 kia sorento manual 4 wheel

Caaarburetor? It's fuel injected, isn't it? Check the compression of your cylinders. If the timing is right, the engine just needs fuel, compression, and spark to start and run.

2003 KIA SORENTO WILL START BUT SHUTS OFF WHILE GOTNG DOWN ROAD.

You should have a check engine light on this needs to be diagnosed first. No light then the possibilities are unlimited...... cam sensor ...fuelpump... fuel pump relay.... oil pressure and or levels

Car stalls, will usually restart after sitting a while

Seeing as how you had a check light on,
what codes were present & did you diagnose
& repair them ?

Sounds like a bad fuel pump on the stalling or
no start

Where is the fuel pump? is it in gas tank? the car will start go a few blocks and shut off and not restart. I think it is fuel pump, may be fuel filter I also need to replace throttle positioning switch....

yes it is in the tank. but you can remove the rear seat to get to the fuel pump, instead of dropping tank. (2003 to 2005) kia sorento. fuel filter is inside tank and replaced with fuel pump as an assembly.

2003 kia sorento will not re start after running around town

Engine temperature spikes when a car is shut down and many cars have an extra switch for the electric fan that will turn them on if the temp rises past a certain point.
That switch may have failed, making it necessary to allow the engine to cool off.
Your car may not even be equipped with that feature so I would suggest trying the following: When restarting soon after shutting off, slowly press the accelerator pedal completely to the floor and don't let up on it until the engine fires. Allow at least 20-30 seconds of cranking before giving up on it. The engine may be getting surplus fuel because of a problem with the computer or a 'cold start valve' that lets the engine draw more fuel when cold so starting it 'hot' it may be getting too much fuel to fire (flooding).
