1999 disdributer the same as a 2001 ? v6 vortec engine

No it will not work, the Vortec 5.7 is a completely different engine design, either use a 6.0L or a 5.3, they are in the same engine family.

There should be 6 in the block and 8 in the heads.

I believe in 97 they started the vortec 350 and they ran until 2001 not real sure but any salvage yard will know what years will fit. there are also different engine codes I think they are W and Z that will make alot of difference in the computer.
