I have to replace all the brakes on my car but I can't order parts until I know whether the front calipers are Girling or Bendex or what the brake codes for the back and front brakes are. How do I find this information?

You must start bleeding the brakes at the wheel farthest from the master cylinder (usually the right rear), then the next farthest from the master cylinder, then the next, then the closest. If your master cylinder is at the left front of the car, start with the right rear, then the left rear, then the right front, then the left front. If you don't bleed the brakes in the correct order, you are just shifting the air in the lines from one line to another. Make sure that you close the bleeder before letting the brake pedal up, and the engine should not be running when you bleed the brakes... Make sure that the emergency brake is off. Make sure that the master cylinder does not run out of brake fluid at any time that you are bleeding the brakes.
For front brake pads replacement you need only usually wrench set, inclusive 7 mm allen key also. But for rear brake pads replacement you need obligatory a special caliper piston pressing tool, in order to press back rear caliper piston with parking brake automatic adjustment!!! For front brake pads. First you must verify yours front brake disc diameter: 280 mm or 288 mm. (On my car y have 288 mm). After that you can buy the brake pads (with wear sensor). For change front brake pads you must raise vehicle, remove wheels, extract the retaining spring of the caliper, and remove the caliper as follow: 1. Do not disconnect the brake hose from the caliper, and do not allow the caliper to hang by the brake hose! 2. Remove top and bottom caps (on back side of the caliper) for access to guide pins, then unbolt and remove them from the brake carrier. Remove the caliper. 3. Now you must thoroughly clean the brake calipers (free of grease). 4. Remove outer brake pad from brake carrier. 5. Pull inner brake pad out of brake caliper piston. 6. Check up the brake fluid level on the reservor, and emptying if neccessary! 7. Push piston back into brake caliper housing. 8. Install inner brake pad (with expanding spring) in brake caliper piston. (Arrow marked on pad - if exist, must point in direction of brake disc rotation when vehicle is moving forward). 9. Install outer brake pad into brake carrier. 10. Bolt brake caliper housing to brake carrier using two guide pins. Tightening torque is 25 Nm. 11. Install both caps. 12. Insert retaining spring into brake caliper housing. Important: Depress the brake pedal firmly several times while the car is stationary so that the brake pads adjust to their normal operating positions!!! Check brake fluid level and top up if neccessary!!!
Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
Inspect the fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir.
If the brake fluid level is midway between the maximum-full point and the minimum allowable level, then no brake fluid needs to be removed from the reservoir before proceeding. If the brake fluid level is higher than midway between the maximum-full point and the minimum allowable level, then remove brake fluid to the midway point before proceeding.
Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
Remove the tire and the wheel assembly.
Hand-tighten 2 wheel lug nuts in order to retain the rotor to the hub.
Install a large C-clamp over the top of the caliper housing and against the back of the outboard pad.
Slowly tighten the C-clamp until the piston pushes into the caliper bore enough to slide the caliper off the rotor.
Remove the C-clamp from the caliper.
Front brake pads and related parts
Remove the lower caliper bolt (1).
Use care to avoid damaging pin boot when rotating caliper.
In order to access the pads, rotate the caliper upward and suitably support it.
Remove the pads (5) from the caliper bracket (3).
Remove the 2 retainer slides (4) from the caliper bracket (3).
Inspect all parts for cuts, tears, or deterioration. Replace any damaged parts.
Inspect the caliper bolts for corrosion or damage. If corrosion is found, use new caliper bolts when installing the caliper.
Using a C-clamp, bottom the piston into the caliper bore. Use an old brake pad or wooden block across the face of the piston. Do not damage the piston or the caliper boot.
Install the 2 retainers to the caliper bracket.
The wear sensor is on the outside pad. The sensor is positioned at the leading or upward edge of the pad during forward wheel rotation.
Install the pads to the caliper anchor bracket.
Use care to avoid damaging pin boot when rotating caliper.
Remove the support and reposition the caliper (2) back down over the front pads.
Lubricate the pin bolt and the inner diameter of the bolt boot with GM P/N 18047666, or equivalent. Do not lubricate the threads of the pin bolt.
Install the lower caliper bolt. Tighten the caliper bolts to 70 ft. lbs. (95 Nm).
Remove the 2 wheel lug nuts retaining the rotor to the hub.
Install the tire and the wheel assembly.
Lower the vehicle.
With the engine OFF, gradually apply the brake pedal to approximately 2/3 of its travel distance.
Slowly release the brake pedal.
Wait 15 seconds, then, repeat steps 10 and 11 until a firm brake pedal is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
Fill the brake master cylinder reservoir to the proper level.
The hard part is pressing the caliper piston abck into the caliper so you can get the new, thicker pads over the rotor. A large C Clamp works best.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
Pads —Front Disc Brake
Remove the wheel and tire assembly. For additional information, refer to Section 204-04 .
Remove the front disc brake caliper bolts. torx bit. T20?
Support the front disc brake caliper from the front strut and spring assembly using mechanics wire.
Remove the front disc brake pads.
Remove the outboard front disc brake pad.
Remove the inboard front disc brake pad.
CAUTION: Make sure the master cylinder reservoir does not overfill and spill brake fluid while retracting the front disc brake caliper piston. NOTE: It is necessary to fully retract the front disc brake caliper piston in the bore before installing the front disc brake pads. Install the front disc brake pads.
Install the inboard front disc brake pad.
Install the outboard front disc brake pad.
Caution. The outer pads are left and right. put left on driver side.
Position the front disc brake caliper on the front-wheel knuckle and install the brake caliper pin bolts.
WARNING: It is necessary to depress the brake pedal several times to position the front disc brake caliper piston before driving the vehicle.
Start from right rear, then, left rear, right front, left front. Fill master cylinder. Have helper sit in car, have helper hold brake pedal down. open bleed screw. fluid and air comes out. close screw. release brake pedal. Continue until no air comes out. Move to next wheel. Keep an eye on master cylinder fluid level after each wheel.
crawl underneath the front and look at the caliper if it has a duel piston caliper you will see 2 circles about 3 inches across and if it is a single piston caliper it will only have one of these circles in the middle this iswhere the pistons are. yes those pads are suitable. As for bleeding the brakes you need to start at the passengers side rear wheel and bleed it first then go to the drivers side rear wheel then go to the passengers side front wheel and then finally the drivers side front wheel. If you are only replacing the brake pads and shoes then you don't need to bleed the brakes. If you are bleeding the brakes then you will want to be sure to top up the brake fluid as you are doing thebleeding process as if you don't you will end up having to start all over again. as for special tools you may need a 3/8 hex bit and a 8 inch " C " clamp to compress the calipers after you remove the brake pads. If you are replacing the rotors you may require a special socket fo dis-assebleing and re-assembly of the front hubs.
