I replaced my waterpump and all gaskets in the housing. now the temp gauge on the DIC jumps high and low then dissappears and my service light came on...whats the deal?

once you have changed the water pump you refill the radiator to the neck and and run the car with the fan on and wait till the themostat opens.you will know this because the antifreeze level in the radiator will drop, let run and refill radiator and replace the cap.fill the overflow bottle to the full mark. on some models you have a bleeder on top of the engine to bleed the system. i would also pressure test the radiator cap or replace it as this is not exspensive but a vital part.

My low coolant light stays on. Buick skylark 1997

first verify if the fluid is low or not, in the coolant tank and the radiator. if its low, refill it with water and have it pressure tested asap. if the radiator is not low, the sensor in the radiator is bad and will need replacement.

How to reset low coolant sensor on 1999 buick century

Your cooling sensor is in the white plastic coolant tank that is on your firwall under the hood. If you fill it with coolant and the light continues to stay on. try and slap it a few times and see if that resets it. it could be gunked up. if that doesnt work fill the tank with radiator flush and let it sit for a little while and then flush the tank and refill with coolant.

Low coolent level light stays on

Make sure you bleed all of the air out of the cooling system it is very important that you do so, and then make sure that the coolant level is exactly to the fill level line.

1999 Olds Alero. Low coolant light comes on and stays on even though its full. Starts running hot to the 3/4 mark. When the heater is turned on it cools off. Could this be the thermostat or the water pump.

TAKE RADIATOR CAP OFF WITH ENGINE COLD AND CHECK WATER ..MAKE SURE RADIATOR NOT BLOCKED,,PLASTIC BAG ETC. THIS SOUNDS LIKE LOW WATER OR RADIATOR ..STOPPED UP INSIDE ..IF YOU HAVE GOOD HEAT IT'S FULL OF WATER. REPLACE T STAT B4 RADIATOR..IT'S CHEAPER. ALSO CHECK FOR RADIATOR COOLING FAN OPPERATION..I,M RULING OUT THE WATER PUMP.

How do you reset the low radiator fluid light on the dash? Fluid res. was low. I re filled but lite won't go out.

There is no reset button. When you fill it up it should just go out. What happens is the sensor is at the bottom of the fill bottle and all the dirt and junk is at the bottom.Sometimes the sensor is on the radiator. It is directly below filler neck of the radiator.Drain enough coolant to lower the level of the radiator and remove the metal retainer from the sensor.Remove the sensor and install a new one in.Refill the radiator. The light should be off.Make sure the vehicle is cooled down when working on the cooling system.

Coolant sensor

refill and bleed the cooling system.  The water from your overflowing radiator may be the cause of you engine problems....dry of the motor.
