the battery is fine, i believe its much more than that. if i had the manual and all the right tools id work on the car myself. cuz i sure as hell don't have the money to send it to a shop. if there is anyone else out there with a solution let me know.

Now i have a new problem, The engine shacks rebad the hotter it gets. Any ideas on what would cause it.

  • sweetbrie67 Oct 05, 2008

I'm not sure what else to say about the new problem. Other than that when i'm driving i really don't notice the shacking so much. Till i come to a stop, the worst of the shacking is when i'm in park or nutral. It almost feels like the car will stall if i don't keep it going, and what i mean by that is keep my foot on the gas and drive.

My 2006 grand caravan is making a clicking noise when I try to start it. I charged the battery up but it still is clicking. Any ideas? Everything seems to be working it just wont turn over and start.

if the voltage is correct. it may be a bad solinoid for starter, or the starter itself. check and make sure all connections from starter to battery, are clean and tight. with car off, voltage at battery should be at least 12.6 volts or better, engine off, with the engine on and if alternater is ok! it should read at least 14.2-14.6 at battery. good-day!

I went to start my 92 lumina and it wouldn't start... the battery was dead, so I jumped it with a jump box and it was fine... I drove it to the store and back. 2 days later the battery was dead again...

first you half to determine if the alternater is working. you do his by jumping the car and while its running take of the neg cable off to the car if it dies then you know the alternater is not working properly,
if it stays running you know you have a electricalen short you half to trace down

I have changed both the alternater and starter

This procedure usually works:
·Check the battery cable connections:
Make sure the negative cable makes a good ground connection at the battery and (preferably) at the engine. Make sure the positive cable, makes a good connection at the battery and at the starter.

·Check the battery the simple way, like this:
Turn on the headlights, then try to start the car.If the headlights do not dim or go out, then the battery is likely ok.

·Check the starter and solenoid:
If the wiring looks ok, then look at the starter solenoid for a good connection, and proper voltage at the starter(10 volts minimum while cranking).
If the starter spins and no crank, the problem is most likely the Solenoid's pinion gear is stuck.
Have someone hit (not too hard) the starter while you try to start the car. This usually works by dislodging a stuck pinion gear.
·Make a simple test of the alternator:
If you can, somehow get the engine running, measure the voltage at the battery. It should be at least 13.6 volts to properly charge the battery.

1996 dodge wont start keeps draing batteries

sounds like an alternater problem. the batt is not charging and is only running off the batt untill it runs out. check the wires ect on the alt and if that doesnt work, get a salvaged alt.
