This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.
check fuel pressure, check filters , bad fuel or water in fuel is a common problem with diesel fuel.start simple, turn key to on ,,can u hear fuel pump. remove filter check condition see if water in filter.they have 2 or more filters. prime pump per manual try again.
The Diesel engine doesn't have an ignition system. Also the dash light shouldn't cause it not to start? You said you changed the fuel filter right? After you started cranking it again did the lift pump fill the new filter up. I have had these before where the lift pumps go bad causing low lift pump pressure which causes the water in fuel light to be on. Did it die going down the road or did you shut it off and can't get it restarted.
Check your fuel pump make sure you are getting enough fuel. If the fuel pump is not working properly and then you spray starting fluid and it runs, I would replace the fuel pump
this is jason and in the caption above you said its a diesel right well nin diesel fuel there is a lot of water start by checking where the fuel filter is there shjould be a valve that can release water like on diesel trucks the light will come on and say theres to much water in fuel or whatever maybe that might be the case the sensors just might be reading water rather than fuel.
