Question about Lincoln Town Car

'05 ford freestyle with digital readout instrument cluster package

I've tried to "push and hold", etc the buttons on the steering column in all kinds of combinations and can't get the oil life message to reset. When I got the car, I figured out how to do it when the Ford service tech couldn't.
I guess my notes weren't exact because now I just go in circles. Is there something that has to occur BEFORE pushing the function buttons on the steering wheel? Also, I want to enter my own "oil life interval". What are the step by step instructions to get this done. The owner's manual isn't helping me.

Following the steps in the manual does not do it for me. Need clearer instructions to reset the oil life than what is in the owner's manual. (This car has the digital readouts and the switches on the steering wheel.) I realize that unless you own one of these and have done it before, that the only reference for you is to go to the manual. I'll probably have to live with it until I get the oil changed by the local Ford Dealer. I'll have them show me how to do it.

Ignition switch 124 merc replace

Adjust the Mercedes telescoping steering wheel to the maximum extended position (maximum out position).
Move the front driver's seat to the rear-most position.
Disconnect the negative battery cable by loosening the retaining nut on the negative battery cable clamp and sliding the clamp off the battery terminal.
Remove the screws on the underside of the instrument panel cluster that hold the instrument cluster cowl in place and remove the cowl.
Remove the four screws holding the instrument cluster in place and remove the instrument cluster from the dash. Make sure to remove the electrical connectors from the back of the instrument cluster before trying to completely remove the cluster.
Turn the ignition key to the "I" position and remove the electrical plug in the back of the ignition switch. The switch should be exposed now that the cowl and instrument cluster have been removed. You will access the plug from the top of the ignition switch and cylinder assembly.
Loosen, but do not remove, the Allen bolt on top of the ignition cylinder that mates with the steering column using an Allen wrench.
Remove the two 13 mm bolts on top of the steering column. This will allow the steering column to drop down roughly 3 inches so that you can access the release button for the ignition switch.
Press the release button on the steering column where the ignition cylinder enters the column.
Turn the key to the "I" position and remove the ignition cylinder and switch assembly by pulling it out of the steering column.
Remove the ignition wiring from the back of the ignition switch and cylinder assembly by pressing down on the release tab on the electrical connector and pulling it off the switch.

Remove instrument cluster ford focus 2007

First, lower the steering column locking lever and and release the retaining clips holding on the upper steering column shroud with a small flat-tip screwdiver. Remove the shroud. Remove the upper retaining screws from the instrument cluster bezel (surround) then unclip it from the dash. As you withdraw the bezel, disconnect the wires from the luggage compartment switch and trip computer, if you have them. Remove the four mounting screws from the instrument cluster assembly and withdraw the cluster. Disconnect the multi-plugs from the cluster. BE SURE to keep the cluster in the UPRIGHT POSITION to keep any silicone fluid from leaking from the gauges. Hope this helps out. Good luck!

Odometer went black.how do i go about getting it out to check ID number

What ID number? Are you trying to find a replacement? There are only 2 kinds used in a 2006 Freestar - with a message center (6F2Z-10849-BB) and without the message center (6F2Z-10849-BB)

NOTE: If the instrument cluster is replaced, the new one must be programmed to work with your engine computer or the engine will not run - it will go into theft-protect mode.

Getting it out is very easy:
1. Disable the Supplemental Restraint System
2. Tilt the steering column to the lowest position
3. Remove the steering column cover
4. Remove the instrument cluster finish panel
5. Remove the screw and disconnect the cable for the shift indicator
6. Remove instrument cluster screws
7. Disconnect the instrument cluster wiring connector
8. Remove instrument cluster
9. Reverse procedure to install

I have a 2005 ford freestyle the ac is fully charged the rear works great the front passenger side is ok but the drivers side is warm about 20 degrees difference between the drivers side an passenger

there is a door that directs cold or hot air behind the dashboard in order to make the passenger's side colder or hotter relative to the driver's side.
The a/c door servo may be bad, or the temperature settings for each zone are not balanced.
In-vehicle Temperature Sensor Removal & Installation
  1. For the Five Hundred and Montego;
    • Lower the steering column to the full tilt-down position.
    • Remove the instrument cluster finish panel screws.
    • Release the locking tabs on the steering column upper shroud located behind the steering wheel.
    • Remove the instrument cluster finish panel and the steering column upper shroud as an assembly.
  2. For the Freestyle;
    • Remove the lower steering column cover.
    • Remove the lower steering column shroud.
    • Disconnect the electrical connector from the in-vehicle temperature sensor.
  3. Remove the in-vehicle temperature sensor.
To Install:
  1. Reverse the removal procedure to install.

The LED Dash Control Center on my 2005 Mercury Monterey will go from being bright and readable to dim and recently completely off. It is not affected by the dash light dimmer control switch, but does...

when the headlights or parking lights are on,the readouts will automatically dim to compensate for night driving. that aside, the dimmer switch is could be bad or the wiring has become loose or disconnected or the connector on the readout is loose or has become disconnected. my odometer was randomly going on and off. and tured out to be a loose connector
