Question about 1996 Volvo 960
This is a BIG job that will take more space to describe than this space allows. The short version is open both front doors, remove everthing that doesn't look like a heater core, replace whats left with a new heater core.
Seriously this is a job that will take 8 hours or so the first time. The dash must come out, the a/c must be drained, then the climate unit comes out and gets split open. Use a quality new core as many of the aftermarket ones fail quickly. A methodical backyarder could pull this off but I would recommend a pro for this one.

The hoses the connect to the heater core are visible from under the hood. The are in the center, rear (right in front of the dashboard) if you're looking at the engine from the front of the car. It's two similar hoses, one above the other, secured with screw clamps. If there is corrosion on/around them, then you're heater core will probably go bad soon (if it has not already). My hoses were stuck, and very hard to remove. Remember, if you're replacing the heater core IT IS NO JOKE. Don't get into it if you're not ready!!!!!!

Tips for a great answer:
its clogged it can be cleared with the use of Garden hose p[ump. The water has
to be turn into the heater hose line and then water has to be removed
out via the pump.
