lets look at obvious someone who put car together ran it like a fast and furious car the first thing i would do is buy a new alternator and then take to a tech with computer software to reset the mazda engine back to factory settings i believe that when they sold to dealer the person removed all aftermarket equipment and left the computer with the running parameters not reseting it back to factory settings i believe that this is your trouble
if a computer factory reset didnt work then i would say yes they sold you a lemon
this engine seriously upgraded for this particular car

You take the bolt from behind the cylinder and then you should see a 4mm allen key head. turn it and push cylinder in. take the bleeder valve off to relieve any pressure also and while screwing with an allen key its important to know that it is leftr hand thread. :)

You need to get that oil out of there right away, especially if it has a burnt smell. Change the filter and gasket at the same time and pay attention to what comes out of the oil pan when you do this. Filings in the trans oil are normal wear and tear but pieces aren't. Add a bottle of a trans additive to extend life, I've had good luck with Lucas. If the trans is still acting up you will have to start looking for a replacement although you can add a second bottle of Lucas, if that is what you use, to help get you by until you can repair properly.
