Question about 1993 Buick Century

1 Answer

1993 buick century instrument cluster

I need to change out the instrument cluster in my 93 century and was curious about interchangeability. Mine is a 3spd auto without trip and the one i found to change it out with is a 4spd auto with trip and the temp and voltage guages. Are the instrument clusters for 3spd and 4spd transmissions interchangeable for a 93 century? It looks as if i would just have to change out the selector from one that has overdrive to one that does not.

My experience has been they are not interchangeable - a number of sensors are usually unique to the specific cluster type installed.

SOURCE: no odometer light or gear selector. tried

Thanks Johnyboyy & Sam35edm! I checked my fuse (10amp) and it looked ok. I replaced it and the lights for the odometer and gear shift indicator both lighted up. I then inspected the old fuse and it looked a little tarnished on the contacts. I then cleaned the contacts on both sides of the original fuse with a razor blade to remove the tarnish. The light lit brighter than ever! Looks like the fuse wasn't making good contact in its socket because of the tarnish.

93 Buick roadmaster, replaced speed sensor already, car still did same thing

Erratic Speedometer action could be an internal transmission problem. Check the Instrument cluster, vehicle speed buffer and recheck the speed sensor, look at the drive gear inside.

Instrument Cluster

No. 2001 to 2003 are interchangeable. I am currently looking to replace mine on a 2002 and have consistently been told those years are the same. These babys are pricey, perhaps you can trade your 2004 for one that will work.
