Sound as though you have a lean burn condition and this is usually caused from a vacuum leak and that is what I would check for first. What engine is in it?

It sounds like an idle speed motor, sometimes called an idle speed actuator. It is located on the side of the air intake. They occasionally fail and need to be replaced.

I'm trying to remove the transmission because it needs to be rebuilt. I cannot locate the bell housing cover however in order to remove the torque converter to drive plate bolts. Can you assist?

There is an inspection plate under the car at the bell housing. Remove the bolts and hand turn the engine over and start removing these bolts you see.

I have a 2003 Ford Escape with 130,000 miles and I've been told I need to replace the rear cat (firewall side) When I turn my heat on you can smell the exhaust. I also have the high idle and sometimes it...

If the Cat was bad the engine computer would let you know by setting a P0430 or P0420 codes an the check engine light would be on and you wouldn't get it to go out .
DTC P0420 DTC P0430 Catalytic Converter Efficiency Failure
Who told you you need to replace the CAT ? I would get a second opinion . Some aftermarket cats will work ( walker muffler ) Still cost $400 to $ 600 bucks . Buying cheap ones won't cut it , you may need to do it again when you can't get the light to go off . If you smell exhaust probably a rusted pipe .

When driving i have a high pitch squeal but its not a belt what could it be

It is the belt, but not like you expect. The belt is being drug over the idle pulley causing the sound. You need to replace the idle pulley and the sound should cease.

My ford escape idle very rough. it accelerates fine. i need help to solve the problem

If your Escape is v-6 powered a common problem believe it or not is a solenoid in the transmission that allows the torque converter to "unlock" at idle. If the solenoid is bad then the torque converter stays locked and puts a load on the engine causing rough idle in gear at stop.
