I have a 1991 Isuzu Stylus dohc (same motor in the Geo Storm GSI) and I just replaced the IAC solenoid. After replacement the idle stays around 2500-3000 rpm. Is there a reset procedure for the IAC?

This is not normal you should be idling at about 650 to 800 depending on what kind of transmission is in the vehicle .
I would look at the throttle cable sometimes they fray and hang up in the jacket see if you can move the throttle pivot on the air horn back to a good idle speed if not you have a computer problem because nothing would that at idle to make it run at 3000 rpms

Temp gauge dos not work car idle at 1100 Rpm

Technically you are right, the choke is on.
When the engine temp is cold, or the computer thinks its cold, the computer bumps the base idle up until the engine warms up.
You could have a problem with the temp sensors, or the cooling system could be low on coolant.

1991 Chevy Caprice has a mild miss fire and stall at low rpm: This is my latest update: I checked and cleaned the EGR,PCV,IAC valve, M.A.P sensor and Throttle body(bore/butterfly). with carb cleaner....

Do you have the idle speed turned up to keep it from dying? Because it is high. Check engine light on? Have you checked for vacuum leaks at the gasket under the throttle body? How does the car run under acceleration? You might have a worn distributor shaft.

1988 F-150 4.9 six. Pulled codes and it showed egr valve was not closing. Changed egr valve and now when driving there is a miss when engine warms up. Did not have the miss before I changed egr valve.

Check to make sure you didn't accidentally loosen a spark plug wire or broke/disconnected a vacuum hose.

A trick you can try; spray WD40 around the area you were working in, and see if the idle changes. If the idle changes then the problem is associated with a vacuum leak in that area....look for loose/cracked vacuum line.

Im having ERG problems. Vaccum leak somewhere. Check engine light came on. check all around the engine for hoses off. could not find any.

Check for

vacuum leaks on intake manifold,

the air tube between the air filter.

intake manifold vacuum hose.

===
clean throttle plate with Berryman carburator cleaner

SEE sample picture HERE
===

Also remove carbon built up behind the EGR valve and the EGR passage tube.

===

Vacuum leak WILL offset the intended 14.7 to 1 air fuel ratio.

More un-metered air (leaks) will lean out the fuel mixture.

Use small amount of Berryman carb clearer at potential air leak area will help you identify trouble spot.

At idle,just spray and listen for the RPM surge.

The in-rush of carb clearer will increase the RPM on the motor.

Record the problem spot(s) and address it later.

===

EGR carbon built up require 2+ hours to clean from start to finish.

You will need a new EGR base gasket before your start.

Locate and remove the EGR valve after the vehicle is cool down.

Carefully record the connector and vacuum line (for older vehicle) location by drawing an easily to follow diagram.

Remove the EGR valve.

Inspect the location of the carbon built-up inside the valve and the EGR passage tube.

SOAK these areas with WD-40 spary.

You will need a small screwdriver,cloth hanger and lot of newspaper and time to get this cleaning done right.

RE-SOAK the carbon and let it sit for over-night will also help.

One the last round,pass a shop vacuum of the EGR valve and the passage pipe.

Install the new EGR gasket and connectors.

Allow the vehicle to warm up outdoor to burn up any remaining WD-40.

Take it for a test drive.

Engine starts,reaches high rpm,then slowly returns to a rough idle, misses badly,no backfire,surges as if searching/adjusting air/ fuel/est,timing light shows mark constantly changing/erratic,engine then...

Vacuum leaks. Check all hoses and intake bolts. Leaking EGR or plugged PCV valve. Air filter plugged. Leaking head gasket. Worn timing chain. Camshaft lobes worn. Valves burned or leaking. Fuel idle control system or sensor. Good luck!

Check for vaccume leaks and also you PCV valve. check the hose too. Visually inspect every vaccume hose you can find. Sounds like a leak .
