Question about 2002 Saturn VUE
I have a 2002 saturn vue 2.2 liter engine. the problem is that the number 4 piston is hitting the spark plug and causing a miss in the motor that is unbelievable. I replaced it once and within 2 weeks this problem occured again. I am stumped on this one if you can help please do..
Few heads are made that completely clear the pistons when the valves are fully open which happens when the timing is out. the belts only break when running which means pistons will hit valves when this happens this will mean usually the bigger inlet valves get bent but to test this fit a new timing belt which is not too expensive (you will want one anyway), do a compression test on the cylinders. this will tell you how many valves and pistons are affected. the labour will be high as usually engine out and strip down, unless rare or treasured lump cheaper to get another engine. If belt broke due to Ice in the coolant when trying to start, it may have only bent 1 valve.

This is a common thing on saturns. i dont know why but the #4 cylinder eats rod bearings. i have 2 cores in my shop one with a blown rod and the other one with no bearing. ever since they went to an "new and inproved crank" with four counter ballance weights they have been nothing but problems. get a new engine cause that rods gonna blow........ sorry for the bad news hope all goes well good luck jimmy
