I have the exact same issue with my 2001. Only after (and every time after) I fill the tank, it won't start or stay running. Help?

my 02 santa fe is in the shop right now as i speak for the same problem!!

    Did you ask about this?

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with your problem.. but in 2002 there was a recall on the 01 & 02 santa fe's w/ the 2.7L engine for improperly manufactured crankshaft position sensors and internal gaps within the cases allowing epoxy to contact the printed circuil board, which resulted in cracking of the printed circuit board capacitor. A damaged capacitor could result in engine stalling. Recall campaign number 03V030000

I'm going to pray about waiting to address the problem when it actually breaks or if I should continue to put for the effort/money now to have it resolved. Thanks for the comments!

this just started happening - to me, at least. It's my wifes car so it could've been happening for a while and she probably thought it as just a car getting old. I'm taking it to the dealership for a fix and will let you know what happens. However, I've read other posts that say that even when the "computer" told them this was the problem it didn't fix it. Crossing my fingers.

We have the same problem and dealer says he needs to replace the charcoal canister, canister close valve, purge control valve and canister filter. There is also an (unrelated) question with the air flow meter and for all of this he is quoting us $980 in parts and labor. Seems high, but I don't really know. Just curious if this sounds right and if it will fix the problem. He says it will get worse if we don't get it fixed, but it doesn't seem to have changed in the past 4 months or so.

Hard to start on 2002 hyundai santa fe? everytime i push gas once then start work and run good can u tell me what is wrong?

yeah, it should start without pushing the gas pedal. Sounds then, like too little gas, or too much air. I would start with a fuel pressure test to see if pressure is up to specs. Also check for any vacuum lines disconnected or bad. Might want to see if engine has any trouble codes. Some parts places (autozone) will check for codes for free. When was last time you changed your fuel filter? Might need replacing. Good luck.

I have a Hyundai Santa Fe 2004 that will not start on cold mornings. Hyundai have changed the injectors and local garage have changed everything else (£1000s worth). It still won't start on cold...

hi thanks for reply may i suggest you check your engines COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR this is not the temp sender unit which operates guage but a sensor which relays temp of coolant ie cold to the ecu and so informs for cold start required ! on older trucks/vehicles this was done by manual device on pump excess fuel delivered then when started auto cuts off same princple but now auto thro ecu+sensor if you had said smoke was heavy blue/blackish when engine eventually started ? this would have certainly been one or two glow plugs not working at optimum however? this seems not the case on your engine so points to ctsensor peugeot use a cable operated coolant sensor which works ok but yours is auto elec so may i suggest 1st check sensor wiring/plug are secure/clean also this sensor is screw into coolant engine block and looks like larger version of temp sender ? which if you check your manual it should give location and is easy enough to change ? hope this info helps ?
