Question about 2002 Ford Ranger Regular Cab
I have a 2003 Ranger reg cab std 5-speed 2.3L 2wd and the Tech at ford said I should change rear differential fluid at 60,000 mi. The manual says that the rear diff is sealed and should never be checked or changed. Who's right. I bought the truck new with the understanding that nothing needs doing til 110,000 miles. I've changed oil, fuel and air filters, period.
I am a Ford tech and the diff doesn't need to be serviced (new lube) unless it is torn down or it has a leak, however it is my opinion that under heavy usage such as towing it should be serviced at around 60,000.
