SOURCE: 98 cadillac deville battery wont hold a charge
sounds like a 12V drain on the system, like a trunk or glove box light that won't shut off.> Could be many. many other reasons why. The way I would find the draining circuit would be to remove the neg cable of the battery. I then would connect a 12V test light between the neg battery TERMINAL and the neg battery CABLE. With a 12V drain the light will shine. I would install into the light a 9V battery powered recepticle to hold computer and radio station memory. Then I remove fuses 1 at a time, then reinstall, at the same time looking for the 12V light to go out. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: where is the starter for a 1995 oldsmobile 98
The starter motor for your Oldsmobile is mounted at the front lower part of the engine, just behind the radiator.
Book time to replace by an experience person is 1.1 hours.
If you are looking to do this yourself, disconnect the battery negative terminal and isolate it.
Remove any covers or braces in order to access and remove the starter.
Remove the wires to the solenoid on the starter, then the bolts retaining the starter to the engine.
There may be some shims between the starter and the engine. You may need to replace these with the new starter.
Hope your repair goes well.

I had the same problem with my 1982 Oldsmobile 98 Regency. It wasn't holding a charge for longer than a week. After numerous mechanics rob me with their so-called quick fixes comma I eventually found a good repair shop Andover paid them $300 to discover that my antenna motor kept running which burnt the battery out. However I couldn't tell because I don't have an antenna inside of that motor. It was by sheer luck that the mechanic heard a sound after he was ready to give up looking for the problem. So if your car is not holding a charge check to see if the motor for the antenna is still running
