Remove glove box and pull computer down from holder, remove air vent valve from under dash and take the fuse box loose. from dash. you will find 6 screws holding cover in place over core. remove them then and remove two bolts that support dash board. pull dash out and remove core cover. Then take hoses loose under hood. You will find one core support on bottom of the left side remove it and take core out you will find the core will cost between 70 and 90 bucks then assemble back the same way.

No heat

Check for the following causes:
  • Insufficient coolant - i. e., not enough to permit flow in the heater core.
  • Anti-freeze concentration (too much water will allow the liquid to freeze in the radiator, heater core or hoses). This can also cause engine overheating.
  • Collapsed hose to heater core (check both hoses).
  • Bad thermostat on engine.
  • Heater blower not working.
  • Heater door not opening.

How to bypass a heater core?

You can purchase a manual valve at your local auto parts store, that you can install with 2 hose clamps on your feed line to the heater core. When you get the valve, just cut the line, place on the hose clamps (one on each side of the splice) and install the valve, by sliding the hose onto the valve. tighten the clamps tight, and close the valve. This will cut the feed to the heater core. Takes about 10 minutes to do. If you need the heater, remember to open the valve. thats it. Hope this helps

Power slider will not work. changed heater core and something might not have gotten reconnected.

The power slider, check the spring switches on the door jamb. They will probably be very corroded, even green in color. Use course sand paper, and clean both sides. As for the heater core, what is the concern? No heat? gurgling noise? no fan speed? oolant leak?

1992 lumina apv smells hot, does not register hot

White smoke means water/antifreeze entering the combustion chamber(s) or intake passages. Suspect a gasket leak somewhere (tighten all intake manifold nuts and bolts). Check all radiator and heater hoses for leakage and hose condition.

Need to chang a heater core in this van its a 92 lumana apv

Disconnect the inlet and outlet pipes on the upper right side of the firewall (Its somewhat of a long reach but you can do it) Drain the radiator and then remove the heater core. Its inside the van located in the heater box under the passenger side of the dash board. I believe you may have to remove the inner glove box. I know that is the case on the TransPort and the Silhouette but the Lumina dash is somewhat different in style.
