Yea, it turns like it should, but want start. If it does, it skips real bad for a second then goes dead. After the engine gets cold, it starts right up and runs fine.

I do remember as a young man, my dad had an old pickup that would stop after it got hot and crank back up when cold. Seems like he always replace the coil.

Could you give more detail as to what it's doing exactly? Is it having a hard time cranking the engine or does the engine crank but not want to get started?

Where is the crank position sensor on a 98 chevy malibu 2.4L? Also what is more apt to be bad, the crank position sensor or the camshaft position sensor?

If it is either sensor you will get a check engine light. So check this, A faulty fuel pump relay can cause the car to come to a complete stop while driving, its like running out of gas. It may be getting hot and shutting fuel pump down. Try swapping another relay of the same size, For the pump to see if its a bad relay. It may be is shutting the fuel pump down, when it gets hot.

Crank sensor

let vechicle sit for a while could be flooded fuel injectors leaking.when fuel injectors become dirty clogged they will leak when you turn off the engine.see if engine restart if its sits while.if car still dont crank check for spark could be faulty ignition module or crankshaft position sensor and camshaft sensor.have vechicle code scan first before buying new parts.meant to say bad engine coolant temperature sensor will cause no start hot engine and clogged air filter.

1997 chevey malibu ran hot it cut off will not start battery lost charge too

You need to test the battery to make sure it lost charge. Your problem could be that the engine siezed when it ran hot and what appears to be a low battery may actually be caused by extra force required of the starter to crank the engine.

98 malibu, cranks no start, good fuel pressure, good spark, pulled valve cover and rockers are moving, starter seams to spin to freely like there is no compression

may be flooded. hold down gas pedal all the way and crank the engine, after a short time the engine will start to splutter and sound like it will fire. ease the gas pedal off slowly, while cranking, enough to get the engine started it may take a couple of goes. it may blow grey smoke when you get it going this will be raw fuel. holding the gas pedal down all the way, the engine will go into CLEAR FLOOD MODE and the injectors will not deliver any more fuel, until you ease off the pedal. check for dribbling injectors and the shop.

Found a little coolant on dip stick car not

Head gasket is usually the number ONE culprit. Hard to say without doing a diagnostic. Are you sure it is coolant and NOT condensation? Is it there when you check the oil HOT and COLD? How much coolant are you losing?

1999 chevy malibu, stalls, no restart after getting to running temperture. fuel ok, cranks but misfires when hot. cools down and starts. runs good cold. crank sensors ok

Sounds to be a bad ignition module or one of the coil packs. Will need a scan tool to know what cylinder (s) are misfiring in order to narrow it down.

I have a 1999 chev malibu. At times the car will not start. Its

If an engine turns over it is cranking, do you mean it cranks but won't start running?? Have you tested for spark and fuel pressure when you have a crank and no start? That is the 1st thing to do, until then you and I are guessing, and that gets very expensive very fast.
