2004 hyundai elentra dashboard light not working

I just bought a Elantra and when I turn on the headlight my dashboard does not light up. Thinking it may be the light bulb but don't know how to change it anyone know. I am single and limited on money so I have to do it myself so any help would be appreciated. If someone else has had this problem maybe it's something else. thanks

Check that the tail light(s) are working. They act as a fuse to your dash lights.

Might be unrelated. But if you're out of ideas at this time:

My 2003 Elantra had a problem when I would use the turn signals. The dash lights would flicker on and off and if you jiggled the arm of the dimmer switch it would turn the dash lights back on. Over time it got worse. AND little did I know it also made the tail lights and front parking lights flicker on and off!!! So it was not good to say the least.
I took the switch out and opened it up. And inside where the turn signal components moved to make their contact connections, there was a build up of electrical contact grease at the bottom making intermittent contact between two points (I'm assuming gravity and vibration over the years moved the grease down there and built up). I cleaned the excess contact grease from the area. Reassembled the switch. Put back in steering column. No longer having issues.

How do i reset the codes for a 2004 hyundi elentra

Unplugged tha negative (black) wire battery fro a few minutes. If the check engine light turn on again, one or more fault codes are there and need scanning to know exactly what is this number code.

Good luck (remember comment and rated this).

01 Hyundai Elantra - Cruise Control Doesn't Work w/ Headlights On

I had same problem (cruise control/dashboard lights) for the past month with my 2000 Elantra. Replace the tail lights bulbs - my problem was caused by a problem with the double filament within the bulb. Essententially, there was a short when I turned on the lights or hit the brakes.

I did this last night and everything is working properly now.
