Question about Volkswagen Passat
2004 Impala, I believe a CAN bus system:
Dashboard (IP & HVAC) lighting is do not luminate at night. Fuses OK. Problem follows the bubble shape light sensor on dash.
Non factory installed radio in car. Installed in 2005. Radio is uneffected. Dashboard has illumination during the day.
How hard is it to replace the light sensor? Or due to vehicle bus system, can the the problem lie elsewhere; and if so, where?

More than likely be a fuse at fault.check fuse box in car for the proper fuse and replace with one of same ampage.

NO NECESARILLY A FUSE ITS MOST LIKELLY A BURNED COMPONENT IF IT WAS THE FUSE THEN YOUR HEAD LIGTHS WILL NO WORK IDER I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WHIT MY CAR AND I HAD TO SAR IT BACK
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO IS TAKE THE WHOLE DASH BOARD OUT AND LOOK FOR ANY SINGS OF BROKEN OR BURNED SAR THEN JUST SAR IT BACK TOGETHER BE CARFUL WHEN YOU DO IT DO AS ALL THE COMPONENTS ARE ARE SEPARATED FROM EACH OTHER AND YOU DON'T WANT TO SHORT THEM
