Engine meter fuse keeps blowing

When A/C is on, giving an extra push to gas pedal (accelerating) blows the "Engine Meter" fuse - the one in the center of the fuse panel - causing the engine to shut down immediately

    I have a Mitsubitshi Galant 2001 and when I start the car and try to accelerate it blows fuse(30) and it shuts down .

Dead short, intermittant (caused by engine movement possibly) To trace cause without schematic not to tuff. the IDEA (theory) is to disconnect the loads on that line until your short doesnt happen (engine stays running) start with the AC compressor. Also use your 5 senses at chk out where those wires pass thru grommets and holders, look for wire coverings that are discolored/worn thru frayed

Unplug the radiator fan, replace the fuse and see if it blows again. If not, then its likely the radiator fan is shorted. Use an ohm meter and see what the resistance is. It should be greater than 5 ohms.

Replace 15 amp fuse to a 30


NO,NO,NO ! Fuses are electrical protection for the cars wiring installing a higher amp-age fuse takes longer to blow so your wiring gets hotter and starts to melt the insulation and shorts to other wires eventually burning up the harness. With a amp meter test the circuit to see how much power is needed to keep the circuit going if over rated (15 amp circuit taking 20 amps) then install a cycling circuit breaker 10 amp this will blow and cool and blow again continually then with a magnetic amp meter (Gauss meter) you can locate your short the source voltage causes the amp meter to jump as the fault occurs when you pass it meter will stop working.

Fuse under hood keeps blowing out


Fuses are there to stop current flow if it becomes more than the wiring can handle. If the fuse keeps blowing then you have a short after the fuse. Check the wiring for damage or shorts to the earth . You can check the wiring by pulling the fuse and placing a multi-meter on the point where the fuse sits and see if you have continuity to earth. If so then you will have to disconnect what you have the fuse for and see if the continuity is still there as it may be that unit that is shorting out internally and causing the extra current draw that is blowing the fuse.

checm fuse box for loose wire connection accelerating will cause it to push to many ampps and blow fuse make sure fuse prongs are nor loose

Sounds like somthing is grounded, along the way.. The easy to find it is using an inductive amp meter, and a 30 or 35 amp, self resetting, circuit breaker for diagnistics.

replace the fuse with the circuit breaker, and get it to start tripping, like pressing the brake pedal. Once it strarts cycling, follow along the wiring with the amp meter.... It will bounce wildly along the good portions of the wiring, and then give no indication AFTER or downstream of the grounded area....

Break lights dont work, I replace the lights how do you replace the break fuse what should I look for?


Bulbs are just like a fuse to for they blow out like a fuse. You have a brake light switch mounted near the brake pedal. Check that switch out with a OHM meter. Just unplug the switch and feed the Ohm meters contacts into the switch. Then push the brake pedal down to see if it completes the circuit. If a OL reading is showing at all times the switch is bad and needs to be replaced

which engine, wiring varies by Egnine G16, J20, H25? what?
a fuse blows to stop the fire from a shorted power feed.
the fuses have names and numbers. with that info.
i can tell you all paths that can short for that fuse.

what you do is pull all loads 1 by 1 on that shorted feed.
if still blows the harness is shorted (long hard inspections, or 15min work with my ammeter short finder (magnetic)

Keeps blowing the prime fuse under hood,gas gage won't read,heated seats won't come on,after truck starts,blows that fuse each time.Problem just started.


this problem is most likely caused by a fuel pump with high amp. draw on start up.use a amp meter.then replace fuel pump.

you have a short to ground somewhere. Look for worn wires, loose connections, any work recently done.
