2002 Honda Odyssey replacement of cruise light on dash

This is minor, but I hope an easy fix. I need to replace the indicator light for my cruise control (on the dash). The dealership wanted $30+, but I'm sure the bulb is cheap and they are charging for the labor. Is it easy to replace? How do I get behind the button? Thanks.

Mine is a 2001 Odyssey, but I think it's the same problem. It is the light in the button on the dash that is not working; the light in the instrument panel to indicate when the cruise is actually in use still works fine.

Me too - just burned out yesterday. How can we get to the lamp to replace it?

Hello, you mentioned light on the dash, then end with "how do I get behind the button". So are you talking about the bulb for the cruise control indicator on the dash board or the bulb within the button you depress to engage the cruise control?
    Thank you

open the rear hatch. Between the tail light housing and the rear hatch opening there is a trim strip with two flush fitted flap doors. Insert a small straight blade screwdriver into the small slot on the tail light side of the flap. Pry gently inboard and the small flap will open (the hinge side of the flap is on the side of the rear hatch opening.) Now you can remove the screws that hold the tail lamp assembly in place. Finally, there is still a "spear point" clip that fits into a socket near the front outboard corner of the assembly. Gently pry with a tape wrapped screwdriver (avoids scratches) and force the assembly straight back. The clip should release and free the assembly so you can change the bulb(s).

yes, sounds about right, however there should only be about 4 to 4.5 hrs involved in billing, I would say the overall cost should be about 8 or 9 hundred with labor,paint/materials, and rear bumper cover.

Yup after removing the 2 screws, there is a round plastic tap.
you need to pop the light housing back and outward with a flat screwdriver. wrapped electrical tape on the flat end to avoid scratching the paint.

Honda Odyssey 2003 cruise control will not come on. Could it be a fuse or? I push the selector to set the cruise to on and nothing happens. Any ideas what is wrong?

is the check engine light on, key on, and out driving?
if not the newer honda;s cut CRUISE, for many failures.
they dont want to be like Toyota, and car drives it self, LOL.
no kidding.!!!
so today cruise is LAST. to work.
if the ECU is in limphome , cruise is cut.
so connect a scan tool and scan for DTCs.

i cant guess country , nobody ever post this. but up in canada
the the PCM is differernt and the CEL may not glow for some very bad errors, (misfire is one) so scan it, and win.
if no DTC then its a real cruise failure.

I have a Honda accord 2.4 exec on an 03 plate. The heated seat switch lights on bothe seats but neither get warm. Is there a relay that needs replacing? any help would be appreciated.

According to the factory wiring diagram for a 2002 Honda Odyssey, the seat heater switch hi/low indicator lights won't light up unless the seat heater relay is good. The seat heaters have thermostats and circuit breakers that limit power to the seat heaters under the following conditions:

Thermostats: On below 93F and off above 109F

Circuit breakers: On below 86F and off above 122F

The breakers operate in series with the thermostats and serve as backups to faulty thermostats.

My cruise control light behind the button is burnt out how do I get at it to replace it.

The following is from 2002 Honda Odyssey factory manual page 20-70: Driver's switch panel removal. (This is the switch panel to the left of the steering wheel with TCS, cruise control, mirror, and sliding door switches.) Gently pull on the driver's switch panel bottom right corner to release the (2) right side clips, then detach the remaining (2) clips on the left side and the single top center clip. If equipped, disconnect the cruise control main switch connector, TCS switch connector, power mirror switch connector, and power sliding door connector, then remove the panel. Once the panel is removed, you can push out the switch from the rear. The switch has two bulbs in it, one is the cruise switch backlight bulb and the other is the cruise control function bulb.

Go to auto parts store and have it checked for free. They will give you codes and meaning. It is often something minor like a new gas cap.
