A/c problem

May be the bearing are out on your tensioner, the compressor is bad, the refrigerant is low or the belt is loose, an a/c system is fairly complex, and there are several things that could contribute to your problem.

Headlights in 1998 honda civic lx burn dim even highbeams and battery is fairly new what could cause this?

Well, battery being new wouldn't hurt light performance. I think that I would check the alternator to make sure it is generating enough charge for the car to run the lights. Have it checked at your local autozone or advance auto or Sears where the starting and charging system can be checked out. Maybe check if the bulbs are good or not by replacing a set. Also, check that the reflector on the lens is good.

Some cars have an adjustment that can be made to the hatch to make it a tighter seal. You could also try new seals. Seals tend to shrink with age.
