I had an emissions test done on my car, Now the fuel guage drops suddenly to empty the comes back up
It's a bad fuel sending unit - it has nothing more than coincidence in common with the timing of your emissions test. You'll have to remove the sender from the tank to replace it. Some cars require dropping the fuel tank, but others have an access port in the trunk or under the rear seat cushion. Replace the sender and you'll be back up and running correctly.
