I have a 2006 Chevy Silverado 3500 that when coming to a complete stop feels like the anti lock system kicks in every stop. When this happens the truck continues on a little further (as if something were slipping) before it comes to a complete stop. Has been going on for 2 years.

Without a test drive i would have no idea to be honest only what has alrerady been suggested ,i would suggest that ask a local mechanic to have a drive then post what he/she says ,as for the OBDII code reader forget it as the ABS system cannot be read from the OBDII ,well not in europe anyway and i would test all sensors with a automotive test meter then go from their as the fault is no doubt mechanical within the ABS unit on the vehicle and without as drive my self i honestly couldnt say

Sorry it took so long to get back to you.
First is the anti-lock brake light on! If so It might be a faulty anti-lock sensor or water in the plug making it give off the wrong reading or could be just unplugged

BUT If the anti-lock drake light is on have some one put a OBD2 reader on your truck

Good Luck!

Also your problem might be coming from your front wheel bearing hubs. They are know to cause this problem as they wear out and eventually have to be replaced.

Thank you. No the anti-lock brake light is not on.

How do I start 1997 chevy express 3500 with the wires?

You can't. It has an anti-theft device. The days of boosting a car with a couple of wires ended in the 1980s! You have to fix the problem, not find a way around it.

Truck not stoping and anti brake is working.

dosen't stop at all or just slow?, if the abs is working then you should feel the pulseing in the brake pedal just before tire lock-up, the tires will not lock-up with abs fully funtioning unless all four tires or two are in lock-up depending on the abs application, if abs fails it reverts it self to regular braking ability, hope this helps

Feels like the brake is always on & gains no speed

When was the last time you open the transmission ? Is it a standard, or automatic transmission ? When was the last time you change your breaks ? Jack the wehicle up, and try to turn the tires with your hand. your breaks might be too tight.

2001 Chevy Silverado anti-lock brakes activate on dry pavement, the pedal pulsates, the typical anti-lock brake sound is heard, and the truck feels like it is not going to stop at times

One of the sensors has gone bad and needs to be replaced, the other thing to that would also do that is the ABS sensor is dirty or needs to be re gaped to the speed ring on the hub. There was a issue bulletin with your Tahoe on the ABS activating under 8 km/h. Good luck and hope this helps, if not clean out the sensor with brake parts cleaner and check the wire harness and ABS sensor bracket. Re gap the sensor to the speed ring hub. Here is the bulletin. Anti lock Brake (ABS) Activation at Low Speeds (Clean Wheel Speed Sensor Mounting Surface) #03-05-25-007C - (05/16/2006) 2001-2006 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe

2001 chevy silverado anti lock brakes

You most likely have a wheel speed sensor dropping out this would make abs system think one wheel is locking up and therefore activate. this usually will happen rt before you stop at around 5mph or so.Also if you have bigger tires than factory and have not had abs programmed for this size it can aggravate it
