I have a 1994 mitsubishi charriot. The problem is when heater is turned on, the engine temperature( temperature) gauge drops down to minimum. If the heater is off the temperature is normal. Could you help me with what might be wrong.

Well i could be 1 of 2 things, 1st when you engage your heater the thermo opens to let heated water through so if your temp gage is say half way then you egage your heater the temp should show to the last notch after cold ( in my car UC 88 Nimbus, blue patch then a stroke then the start of the messuerment line then hot) this is normal because the water now has to travel ferther thought the car so it cools down before it reaches the radiator i.e the ferther the water has to travel the cooler the car runs.
2nd as per solution #1 but if i dont open get a new thermostat

Your thermostat could be a possible source of the problem. It might be jammed open or have a solenoid that tells it to open or close at a specific temperature that it should open to allow the coolant to flow or not flow.... start by pulling it from the motor and drop into a boiling pot of water with the lid off look to see if it opens...

Temperature gauge not accurate

Most manufacturers do not supply the gauge with the correct temp. It is a computer generated guess that is displayed. If computer sees engine tempature getting warm then it will increase gauge. I had a car that someone removed the thermostat on and it would still show after three minutes it was at operating temp. But heater didn't put out heat for almost 45 minutes. A discussion with a gm engineer made me start testing others. Dodge crystler Mitsubishi gm and many others use this fake gauge. Dodge Cummins use it also for their oil pressure gauge. The only way to have accurate temp gauge is install a manual one or watch it through the scan tool.

Guages not working,

If all voltages checked ok,then most probably its faulty instrument cluster board on which gauges are connected.Yes if cluster circuit board looks ok,then also it can be faulty.Somewhere there is minute short or burn on board then such prolem arises.
Also check the fuse box.One under hood and other under dash.Inspect each and every fuse and see if all are fine or not.

See it you can hook up a water hose to "flush" the heater core. try to ensure you have good flow in both directions. Both hoses at the core should be HOT, when the engine is hot.

1994 Mits 3000gt. The radiator fan will not come

there is a heat sencing unit on the fan or radiator which cuts in and out to let the engine maintain operating temperature. If this is faulty, the fan will never go on and the car will overheat.

If you can not find this switch let me know.

VW Golf 2000 1.6 16v automatic. Coolant temp. too low.

Is the heater nice and hot when the needle shows low temp? If the cooling fans turn on and the heater is hot, that leads me to believe the coolant temperature sensor is bad. You should try replacing that sensor. They are only $6 usd here. As long as your check engine light is not on and your fans are running, this will not hurt your car... but this is something you should fix soon if you can. Make sure the engine is cold when you replace the sensor

2004 Bonneville - Temperature Gauge is Erratic

Since there is no voltage applied with the ignition off, if the gauge is not dropping down all the way, it is the gauge that has failed.
Temperature sensors are frequent failures but they are not active when the car isn't powered up. They can be intermittant, high, low but with no power, the gauge itself should go to the minimum.
