There are three ways to reset a check engine light.

1. Disconnect the battery, wait approximately 30 minutes, reconnect the battery. This resets the cars computer which also reset the check engine light. On newer OBD (on-board diagnostic) compliant vehicles this usually does not work. See step 2.

2. Reset using an OBD II reader. When you hook an OBD II code reader up to your vehicle, you can reset the computer using the code reader.

3. Fixing the problem. Generally the check engine light comes on for a reason. Usually it is emission related (sensors, gas cap) or electrical (faulty wiring). In this case the way to reset the check engine light is to fix the problem

How to get the check engine light off a 1995 Saab 900s

MY FIRST PROBLEM WITH THAT WAS A VACUUM LINE TO THE THROTTLE VALVE.I FIXED IT AND TOOK IT TO SOMEONE WHO HAD A TECH2 AND CLEARED IT.YOU'LL BE BETTER OFF DOING THE SAME WITH THE TECH2.WITH THE SAAB SO MANY THINGS GET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON LOL.GETTING IT OF AND KEEPING IT OFF ARE TWO DIFFERANT THINGS.
BUT IN THE LONG RUN IT'S CHEAPER TO BUY YOUR OWN TECH2 FOR UNDER $100 ON LINE AND LEARN YOURSELF. IF YOU ARE GOING TO KEEP YOUR SAAB

The check engine light comes on my 1995 saab 900s

The check engine light is on because there is a problem with the emissions system. There are many things that can cause this. If the engine is running good and you have not noticed any drop in power or fuel mileage, then there is no rush to get it repaired. However you do need to have the ECU scanned to see what code has been set. Your car more than likely has the older OBD1 system but any technician can access the codes. With this code a trained tech will be able to find the problem. Know that is the engine is not running correctly or especially if it is missing then you need to have this repaired ASAP, or you will damage the O2 Sensor and the Catalytic Converter.

1995 Saab 900S convertiable. Check egine light came on, took to dealer 7 times and they can not get it to go out. They replaced air sensors, vaccume lines, car computer or the (brain they called it) Also...

If the check engine light is on, then they should be able to pull a ODB code. If they are unable to pull any codes at all either the ecm is not programmed correctly or the ECM is bad.

Odb2 will not pwr up my snapon scanner on a 95 saab 900s

The OBDII Scanner will turn the ignition key forward but don't start vehicle and turn all lights and radio off and heater off. And plug the scanner in. Then it will run the codes and tell you what code(s) are write them down. Then you will hit the erase button to reset your engine light. If the light goes back on you have a problem it should stay off up to 50 miles if not then have your vehicle checked out usually it could be your O2 sensors or a MAF Sensor "MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR" that is faulty and or your intake tubes are loose allowing too much air flow in to the engine if this happens your car will be running too lean.

Good Luck!

How to enter the radio code in 1995 saab 900s.

When you start the car the display should ask you for the code....Code In.....you should be able to simply enter the code and the radio should come back on. If 'Code In' does not display when you turn on the radio press and hold the 'band' button and 'code in' should come up on the screen.....let me know if that helps....if not I will go out and re-do mine on my 1997 Saab 900S to double check.....good luck

Check engine & check gear box light on 1998 Saab 200S

not sure, run a code scanner on it and post the trouble code that would help to diagnose. Your local auto parts store can probably scan it for you.

How do you read the oil level correctly on dipstick to 1995 Saab 900S?

All dipsticks have an upper and lower mark ..the top mark is the full mark and the lower mark is the add oil mark. Check it with the engine off on level ground.  Also after the motor running at take a few minutes for the oil to return to the oil pan to get an accurate reading.
Do not overfill.
