My mitshi 1997 *** import 2.4 GDI Chariot Grandis did the same. Flattened battery when key left on, put new battery in, now it idles very rough at intersections and stops most times. I reconected and disconected the battery about 6 times and reset the 2w & 4w setting on the screen but the fuel calcutator resets incorrectly also. I have taken out the program CD disk and reinserted that several times but still cant reset the correct fuel calculation. It should read about 400k for this model but it reads about 500k. I also hear the fuel pump click on 6 or 7 clicks each time I turn on the key, I dont remember hearing that in the past. Is your motor a GDI and have you got the communication screen and CD disk that sets the settings. Hope we can get some advise. Cheers Gordon

Since all engines are controlled by the computer, you cannot manually reset idle speed. The idle is controlled by an idle sensor.

My 97 jimmy sometimes dies while driving and idling. no lights come on, fuel pump is working, is not overheating. once it dies, it starts up again immediately.

Here is the common cause of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

1st off your car doesn't have a carburetor, it is fuel injected and will compensate for any altitude change up to 5,000 feet, here is what u need to do.
